Description
My name is Basile, I’m a 27 years old French-Swiss-Australian data scientist. In the process of moving back to France from Canada, where I have lived for the past 5 years, I am currently travelling the world and what it has to offer. I have embarked on a journey to explore the globe, often hitchhiking to immerse myself in all the different cultures.
During the first 6 months of my trip, I travelled the length and breadth of South America, using the strength of my thumb to link the 2 extremities, the Strait of Magellan and the Panama Canal. I spent 6 month journeying along the Andes through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. I then crossed the Pacific and made my way to Australia to reunite with my cousins and other family members.
I am looking to take a break from all this travelling and take it a bit more slowly. I would like to settle in less touristy locations around Australia, meet locals, live a slower lifestyle and improve my surfing skills. I have a big focus on sustainability. I volunteer in an organization where I teach a workshop on climate change and sustainability. This is a big part of me too.

I am fluent in both english and french due to the fact that I am a dual french-australian citizen. I would be confortable teaching both of these languages. I have a good spanish level. My understanding is almost perfect and my speaking is very good.

My educational background is in mathematics and computer science. I have been doing applied research in artificial intelligence for the Quebec AI Institute before going travelling.
Apart from that I have numerous volunteering experiences notably in a hostel and a surf club while travelling in south America. Hard-working individual with a lot of customer service experience in numerous working environments making me confortable participating in group settings.
I have also worked as a construction labourer for 6 month when I was younger and have a strong interest for gardening and building DIY shelves and small house items.

- I love being outdoors, wether it is camping, hiking, climbing, surfing, I love everything of it.
- I played rugby for 12 years, so I am a team person. I know what it takes to make a team project work and how to lead a team.
- I have done 3 years of endurance sports (trail running, road running and triathlon), at a high level. I participated to the world championship of long distance extrem triathlon in Norway by racing the Norseman. I put a lot of focus on being healthy by eating well but also taking care of my body.
- I love reading and writing, I spent a lot of my quiet times reading and writing about my thoughts and experiences.
