Hello one and all!!!

My name is Athena and I'm from Athens (I know, right? No imagination), Greece. I'm 30 years old.... and 11 months..... so.... yeah... nearly 31. :D Time goes by fast, doesn't it?

So, about me... I work as a journalist, researcher and producer at a historical documentary show in Greece. I love everything about this job and I am planning to keep doing it for a long time, but hopefully I'll be able to widen the documentary subjects to include more modern, socio-political, international and travel issues.

I've found that learning people's stories and narrating those same stories through their own words is what I love most. Being a mediator so to speak.

That's exactly what I love about travelling too. I travel not just to see the sights, but mostly to listen to the people, learn about them, their issues, their culture, their everyday habits. I am fascinated by the differences between cultutres... and even more so by the similarities.

I've been travelling for a long time. Sometimes with friends but mostly solo for the past couple of years. Solo travelling forces me to immerse myself completely wherever I go and while it can be hard at times, I think it's the most rewarding experience of my life.
I've visited most European countries, been to quite a few places in the Middle East and some in North Africa, the US and lived in London for 2 years, while I was doing my MSc in Middle East Politics.

While I grew up in Greece, in a Greek gamily, went to a Greek school, graduated from a Greek University, English is... like my first language, almost.
I started learning it when I was 8 years old but I soon outgrew the "class English system" because I discovered books and movies and everything inbetween. So not only did my language skills grow, but my knowledge of American and British culture did as well.

So you can consider me as a Greek-British-American, if you want. :D

I feel like I've written too much, so I'll end this here.
To sum up, traveling is my inspiration and my purpose in life. At least for the time being. Learning from new people, listening to their stories, seeing what life is around the globe with my own eyes. Experiencing all the interactions and adventures (and misadventures.. they're welcome too!) that exploring the world can bring.

I've been working as a researcher, journalist and historical documentary producer for nearly a decade. My BSc was in Media and Communication, while my MSc in Middle East Politics. I have also graduated from a 3-month seminar in Digital Marketing.

My biggest strength is, in one word, communcation, whether it's asking questions or talking to people. Research, interviewing people and any kind of content writing is right up my alley.

I haven't taught English professionally before, but I have spent teaching and holding conversations in English with children and adults in language centers before and I was able to adapt to the needs of every individually.
