 - Description- Hello there!
My name is Ann, I'm 30 years young and a scientist (microbiology) by day. In my free time, I absolutely adore cooking and baking (and eating!). I love exploring new cuisines and recipes which pairs well with travelling the world. There is nothing better than enjoying a meal together with others and appreciating new scrumptious flavours and textures! I'm always curious about new cultures and languages. I also enjoy the great outdoors by running, cycling, or hiking and dabble a little in painting. I'm happiest when connecting with other people over food, a shared passion, or playing boardgames.
After a difficult path to my PhD over the past six years, I'm now looking forward to meeting lots of interesting people and rewarding workaways while travelling!

Chinese (Mandarin): Beginner- More details about my language interests
I love languages and am always curious about learning a new one :) I really enjoy teaching and am happy to teach what I can! I'm most confident in teaching either German (my native language) or English, which I speak at native level. I can assist people learning French or Spanish at beginner levels, but it would depend on specific language goals. Similarly, I would love the opportunity to practise any of my non-native languages or to learn a new one!
 - Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn- I'm interested in:- Charity Work - Eco Projects - DIY and building projects - Life at a Farmstay - Hospitality/Tourism - General Maintenance - Some knowledge of:- Art Projects - Teaching - Gardening - Animal Care - Creating/ Cooking family meals - Helping around the house - Able to teach about:- Languages
 - More details about your skills- I'm a scientist by training and working during my PhD gave me excellent organisation skills, the ability to identify and prioritise tasks independently and carry them out efficiently. I am able to learn new skills fast and adapt flexibly to challenging situations. Teamwork is a big part of working in research, which has given me the ability to work as part of a team, both in leading and supporting roles. I am a resilient and hardworking person and think I can make a positive impact in your team.
Moreover, I enjoy learning and speaking foreign languages. I speak German and English at native speaker level, used to be fluent in Spanish and French (but lack of practise made me a bit slower), and am currently studying Mandarin Chinese and Korean on the side. While in Japan, I have started to learn some Japanese.
As a foodie on a budget I got quite good at cooking delicious meals myself. I love exploring new cuisines and recipes, especially if I can share the food with others. Over the summer, I had the chance to cook for a large group of people (20 ) which was a very rewarding experience!
I enjoy crafting and painting, with current favourites being painting (watercolour, acrylic, guache) and needle felting :) During my studies I also learned how to use Inkscape to create digital images and have done a few projects just for fun.
Generally, I am a curious, open-minded person with a can-do attitude. I'm a quick learner and always enjoy the challenge of picking up new skills :)
