  • Description

Hi everyone! We’re Annie and Alfie, we left home (UK) in October '24 with a one way ticket and the dream of travelling the world and meeting amazing people along the way. We want to travel slowly to really get a feel for the culture and life in each place we visit so doing volunteering has been perfect for us. We love animals and really miss our pets at home so be assured any stays with animals is something we'd be perfect for! It's been amazing to have had such a variety of experiences so far on our travels; jungles, cities, mountains, farms and oceans, and we can't wait to continue our adventure.
We look forward to meeting you!

    Here's a bit about ourselves:

Hi, I'm Annie and I love connecting with people and learning about different cultures. I love how a simple smile or warm conversation can turn someone's day around, it’s these little moments that make life so special. I’ve been fortunate to work in a variety of places, where I’ve learned the importance of making people feel welcome and happy. New experiences always excite me, whether it’s trying local food, learning phrases of a new language, making new friends, or just soaking it up on a new beach. I think overall it’s happiness, whether that be my own or another’s, that motivates me. And what better way to source my own happiness than to witness and create it for others.

I'm Alfie, after finishing University I'm finally living my dream of travelling the world. I love to learn new languages, about different cultures and history. Being outdoors with beautiful nature and animals is my favourite place to be. I'm open minded to a variety of work, I challenge myself to be efficient and improve each time I do something. I'm more than happy to work as part of a team or alone, just to be part of something important is a good feeling.
What really makes me happy is making people laugh and being made to laugh, there’s nothing better than being able to share food and laughter. I love to play (& learn!!) a variety of games and sports, but good food is the way to my heart.

More details about my language interests
We are both interested in learning any and all languages, with specific interests being Spanish and the language of the country we happen to be in at the time (it’s great to be able to interact with locals in their mother tongue). With English being our first language we are keen to help others learn this too if they are interested.

  • More details about your skills

    Annie:
I’m someone who is very adaptable to new situations, not afraid to ask questions yet with an ability to take initiative and work independently. With a university degree in Psychology and time spent educating and caring for disadvantaged children and families, I consider my understanding of individuals and group behaviour to be one of my key strengths. Socialising with others and learning new ways to put a smile on people’s faces is a core part of who I am. Aside from ‘people’ skills, my experiences have also enabled me to learn that I am creative and imaginative, able to bring a spark back to projects and situations that may have lost/struggled to gain theirs. I am inherently practical, organised and clean - further developed through my time working at 5star UK hotel and a leading chain restaurant - and am therefore equipped to deliver exceptional customer service and housekeeping duties. Additionally, I thrive in the presence of children and animals making me a true all-rounder.

    Alfie:
Growing up with a father as a woodworker and grandfather as a builder, I’ve always been good with my hands. Whether it’s been painting, gardening, ‘bodging’ (DIY fixing) or creating physical solutions, I’ve always been keen to learn how to do something and then implement it.
I have a degree in Industrial Design Engineering where, among other things, I learned to consider multiple approaches to solving problems and how humans interact with designs.
I’ve worked previously as a shop floor worker for a leading UK supermarket, where I developed my customer service and organisation skills.
I then worked for a fast food chain while at University which, surprisingly, I enjoyed as the constant rush enabled me to improve my efficiency, teamwork and work ethic.
