Hi I’m Alice :)

I am originally from Manchester in the U.K. but have lived in Portugal for a couple of years as my mum and dad moved out here. I was due to travel to Vietnam to teach English but it was all cancelled due to covid so I ended up staying in Portugal doing some online teaching instead. Living abroad showed me a different way of life which has pushed me to want to travel and experience other places.

One of my passions in life is learning about other cultures and customs so I would love to have the chance to stay with some locals to gain a real perspective on their way of life and create new memories.

In the past, I have volunteered at a local dog shelter to help care for the animals and walk them which I throughly enjoyed. I have worked in many different jobs in the U.K. such as hospitality, dental nursing, cleaning, retail and entertainment. My most recent and rewarding job was working in a women’s refuge for domestic abuse, this involved empowering victims to move on to a better life. I have also done a bit of online teaching for children in China to learn English.

Working on local community projects and making a difference is really important to me. Anything to do with the environment, nature, social justice, and equality is key for me to feel I’m contributing to something important.

My friends say I am fun to be around and kind. I am a spontaneous person who likes to try anything and always up for a laugh. I also consider myself to be polite, reliable, and genuine. I like to learn new things and put hard work and commitment into new projects.

Some of my skills include: tefl teaching, gardening, growing my own fruit, veg, and mushrooms, cleaning and maintenance, taking care of animals, painting and decorating.

Being in nature, animals, hiking and walking, spending time with family and friends, drawing, reading, cooking, baking, foraging, learning something new and exploring new places, are a few of my many hobbies and interests that I like to do in my free time.
