Description

Hello, my name is Akira Solo. A backpacker hailing from Sydney, Australia. I tend to be a calm and caring person and although I need some alone time every now and then. I love forging Strong friendships with those around me.

I started my travels in November 2022 where I worked as an apprentice chef in Japan. I lived in a ski resort called Madarao Mountain for over 3 months and through this was able to connect my passions for food, nature and snowboarding into an amazing experience!!

In addition to my previously mentioned interests I also love rock climbing, hiking and am very interested in science. I'm currently on a gap year for a course in biotechnology.

After Japan I moved onto traveling through Asia and Europe and have absolutely loved experiencing the culture, natural beauty and eccentricities of many other countries. I love the experiencing local life, working and helping to contribute in a community and/or family.

I have done workaways in both Turkey and Romania working in organic farms. through these experiences I have gained knowledge in agriculture, woodworking and landscaping. Workaway has been an absolute blast and am looking forward to doing more in the future.

I love learning about culture and language. Through school and personal experience I have been able to learn Japanese to some extent and would love to learn how to communicate in any other languages given the chance. Although I have never taught english, it is my first language and therefore could teach through conversation and maybe some informal lessons if someone is willing.

I have worked in the hospitality industry for years as a bartender, waiter and most recently as a chef so I have a lot of experience in dealing with customers. I am also physically strong and healthy so I can do any labor task. Have skills using excel, photography and have an international drivers licence for cars.

I am quite nerdy and love to play and kind of board game, my favourite being d&d. I also like computer games. In terms of sports I lean towards individual sports such as snowboarding, rock climbing and skateboarding. I also love learning how to cook new foods and am willing to try just about anything. I love to cook Asian and Mediterranean style foods.
