    Description

    Yeia sas!
I am a Greek guy, and I bought three years ago a nice piece of land in Crete, Apokoronas area, with old olive trees. I produce a small quantity of very good and healthy organic olive oil every year. I also grow food in permaculture for my own.
I have a yurt where I live and a little stone building with a kitchen and a room with beds where some volunteers can share the space.
Compost toilet and external shower warm by sun are outside. It's simple but nice to live here.
The soil of the land is pure clay so I want to build other little building like a storage, a workshop and a better accommodation for volunteers, made of wooden structure and clay.
I'm a carpenter, I know the technics, and I need solid motivated people to help me collecting the clay, preparing the mixture, building the walls with me. No previous experience is needed.
5 hours a day x 5 days a week, I offer vegetarian organic locally produced food, breakfast and the two meals. Also local fresh orange juice included. Extra drinks and snacks are on the coast of volunteers if they want some.
I'm close to a nice little village with a bar and two little mini-markets.
Limited public transportation, you can come by bicycle, motorbike or car.
Sorry, due to very small access road and narrow flat spaces, no possibility for camper-vans neither vans.
Also there are many sheep all around and two cats in the home, so I'm sorry I can't accept any dogs.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Crete is very rich culture from antic times, I don't know a lot about history but I can teach you the basics of Greek alphabet and language.
We can also go together on some free time to interesting or beautiful places, sometimes to the beach.
I'm part of nice local events like mantra singing, yoga, sun meditation, nature hiking, volunteers are welcome to join when I go. It's a mix of Greek and other European people.
I'm happy to learn stories from other countries and also recipes from other culture when we cook.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

I live in a yurt, I can host 1 or 2 volunteers in a little separated stone house on the same land, they'll share a private room with two beds. Bed sheets and blankets provided.
Except in winter, one or two more volunteers can be in their own tent, there I can provide an inflated mattress to put inside.
Kitchen and terrace are the common spaces, limited 4G reception. I have a small internet contract so wifi is available for emails and chats, not for streaming. Thank you for respecting this.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Crete is quite big, with a lot of hiking and biking possibilities. Next beach is 10 km. Public transportation is to travel in between cities, no real network in the countryside. I can pick-you up on demand if you arrive by ferry in Xania.
