    Description

We are a tiny family (me and Mabel, aged 12) living on the South coast in a wonderfully arty, open-minded, diverse community called Brighton. London is just over an hour away on the train, the sea is a ten minute walk from our house and the start of the South Downs are a twenty minute walk away. I work as a teacher in a very English boarding school and my daughter attends secondary school. We have a cat. Mabel is a vegan but I eat meat. I don't smoke.

Mabel is learning to play the guitar, wants to speak Spanish and likes art and drama. In many ways she is very independent but not yet old enough to spend all of the time when I am at work on her own. As an only child it is also important for Mabel to spend time around others especially if they are cooler than me!

We live in a small house but you have access to a double bedroom and a shared bathroom and I can provide access to three meals a day, seven days a week. I am looking for someone who commit to a minimum of a month at a time so Mabel can get to know you and we can also enjoy your company. If you are interested in longer, then that is also fabulous!

You would help out in the mornings for 7:30am to 8:30am making sure Mabel got to school Monday to Friday. I work Thursday evenings until very late so you would be the adult in the house from 4pm to 11pm on Thursdays. I work on a Saturday until 2pm so would need you around then for Mabel.

Most of the daytimes 8:30am to 4pm are your own because we are at work and school and every Sunday you could explore also. I have been a single parent for ten years so I am often creative in my approach and whatever you need, we can work it out!.

Currently looking for someone to stay with us from around 12th April until about 24th May 2024. We are going away week after this so you could have the house to yourself if you want to stay a week longer

I work in a very English boarding school, it looks like Hogwarts's and there are all-sorts of activities that take place there from theatre and drama to musical concerts and you would be very welcome to attend with me. Brighton is often called London-by-the Sea and is cosmopolitan and a bustling city famous for it's gay night-life and artistic beating heart, the beach is super close. You can surf, paddle board, wake-board and hike as well as dancing the night away. Brighton has many, many pubs so if you want to sample English countryside, city and beach-life...Brighton is perfect, also thirty minutes to Gatwick airport.

I am looking for someone who would be willing to help take my daughter to her activities (swimming, drama and guitar) on Tuesday and Wednesday evening (5:00 - 7:30pm) and be around in the house between 4pm and 8pm for four evenings of the week so I can work. Would also need you on Thursday evenings after-school from 5pm to 11pm and on Saturday mornings/afternoons 8am till 2pm, then one evening a week on either Friday or a Saturday from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. I wouldn't be at home during all of these times so you would be the adult in charge, as such, a female is preferred (but if you are a sensible male, do challenge me!).

Although I am looking for between 20 and 25 hours of childcare a week, both Mabel and I are out of the house in school term time from 8am to 4pm so don't need you at these times and you could explore, work or study. Sunday would also be your own, as would either the Friday or the Saturday evening. Once a month I wouldn't need you on the weekend.

Brighton is a place that is a pain to park but I live on an unpermitted street and streets around always have spaces so yep you can park your van. I also have a van, so know all the good spots!
