Description
We are a friendly family of 3; myself, my husband and our 3.5 year old daughter, plus a crazy border collie called Gus! We have recently moved to our dream smallholding in very rural Devon, where we are enjoying being surrounded by nature and close to the sea. My husband works in forestry and I am a small animal vet (although not working in practice at the moment).
Types of help and learning opportunities
Babysitting and creative playCultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a very beautiful area, surrounded by nature and close to the coast. It would be vital for people to have their own transport to be able to explore all that the area has to offer. We would be happy to share our skills; I am happy to share my knowledge of animal husbandry as well as cooking, preserving food, gardening, etc). We would love to learn about other cultures from you as well and I would be especially keen to swap recipes and learn new ways of cooking.

Help
We are looking for help looking after our daughter for 2 days a week (Mondays and Fridays 8.30-3ish). We both work from home, but juggling childcare is becoming difficult and our daughter has struggled to settle into preschool. She can be a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you she is a chatterbox who is never happier than when she is out in garden or off to the woods or the beach for an adventure!
We hope to get animals soon too, but in the meantime our dog Gus is always keen for extra walks
There may also be opportunities for house/pet sitting occasionally as well, if we have found the right person to leave in charge.Languages spoken
English: Fluent
German: BeginnerAccommodation
We can provide a park up for a campervan, or may be able to organise accommodation in a caravan. In the summer there will be camping available in the field.
What else ...
As we only need childcare 2 days a week, there is plenty of time for other work or exploring the area.
Although we live in the middle of nowhere, we have the towns of Bude and Bideford within 25mins of us, and our nearest beach is about 20 minutes. Perfect spot for nature lovers and those that want to be near the coast - we have owls, deer and so much other wildlife that visit our garden! The sea nearby is great for wild swimming and surfing and there’s amazing walking locally too. We have bikes to borrow - there are lots of local cycle routes including the Tarka Trail and the Camel trail.
We can provide access to WiFi and arrangements for shared meals, washing facilities, etc can be organised as well.
We would ideally like to offer this place on a longer term basis, but would look at a minimum of 2 months (after a trial period to make sure we were a good fit for each other).
We would require applicants to have a full DBS check (although we may be able to help with the cost of this ourselves).A little more information
