    Description

We are a family of 4. Two parents (both with TEFL qualifications!) ; both work full-time; two young adult daughters who are just post-University, both is CELTA qualifications. One of them also has a live-in boyfriend here until they can move out. We have a 13 year old Border Collie who is beautifully behaved - but very arthritic and slow. We would welcome a traveller who could come for as long as possible/ as long as it suits!

Please read the following with the well-known adjustments/restrictions due to COVID-19 - thanks.

We live in Eastbourne, pop. 100,000, on the south coast of England, close to town. There is a beautiful and popular Promenade along the seafront. There is a National Park which starts at our back garden and continues for nearly 200 miles. The coast consists of the world famous Seven Sisters white chalk cliffs and miles of beautiful walks. There are lovely old English villages nearby and other amenities.

Our girls are lovely, fun, friendly; helpful with English; have always made friends of our helpers. We are still very close to many of our previous au pairs / workawayers who visit us and keep in touch with us.

We have a cleaner who comes twice per week for 2 hours each occasion.

Due to living arrangements are looking for a FEMALE ONLY traveller / adventurer to help us. The help that we need is with general light housework (parents' bed-making in the morning; tidying the kitchen; clearing up after breakfast; walking the dog for only about 20-30 mins as he has painful arthritis; also general tidying up; including washing, hanging out; ironing sheets once per week; very occasional shirt ironing). This 'housework' profile is very 'broad brush'. In principle, we need help to keep the house going whilst the adults are either out at work or working at home all day. We would really value someone who can be flexible - as we will be with you. We can discuss further details when we talk.

Then you would be free to attend classes, sight-see; meet friends; etc. In the afternoon we need another short 20-30 minute or so dog walk; and the preparation of a simple evening meal.

Preparation of our evening meal for the household, including you of course, is a really important part of what we need. We come home from work and are all hugely grateful for a meal prepared for us! Two vegetarians in the household!

In exchange we offer a genuine warm close family who can include a new Workaway person in our family life and activities. We are very happy to teach English too. Also the workaway-er could attend English or other classes in the town.

You are welcome to contact our previous Workawayers for a reference!

Please do not hesitate to ask us any questions you may have.

There is a huge forest nearby (Friston) and a large wood called Abbots Wood for walks; running; dog walking and other amenities. We have bicycles available too.

    Help

We are both out at work all day usually until early evening. COVID-19- we are working from home/ furloughed

The help that we need is with light housework (bed-making in the morning; clearing up after breakfast; general tidying up). Then you would be free to attend classes, sight-see; meet friends; etc. In the afternoon we need the preparation of a simple evening meal for everyone.

An important aspect of the help we need is with our dog. He is sweet, patient, placid, lovely ! He is 12.5 years old. Lately he has developed significant and painful arthritis and can no longer walk like he used to. So currently he needs 2 (if he can!) x very short (15 mins) walks per day......

We also have a cleaner who comes twice a week.

There is a bus which stops about 15 /20 minutes away. We are about 1 mile from the centre of town; and from the train / bus station. We usually either walk (although we have bicycles for you to use) or we give each other lifts to and from town. There are trains to London; they take 1.5 hours and depart every 30 mins. Trains to Brighton take 40 mins (3 per hours from Eastbourne). Buses to Brighton take about 1 hour: the route along the coast is beautiful. There are trains (3 per hour) and also buses to Hastings (to see the Old Town; the Castle; the Net Houses; and more). Also 3 trains per hour which take about 20 minutes from the beautiful and historic town of Lewes. We are also about 1 hour 20 mins by train from the beautiful historic town of Rye.

We are 1 mile from the beach where there are two groups of Sea Swimmers who swim all year round. There are two municipal swimming pools (one about 1 mile away; the other slightly further). We have bicycles which you are welcome to borrow. There are 3 cinemas in town; 2 of which show ' Art House' / Foreign Language movies. Currently ALL CLOSED!

It goes without saying that we are respectful, kind, compassionate; sensitive to each others' needs; clean; (although untidy!) etc etc
