    Description

    2019

The whole purpose of activities here is altruistic and so not-for-profit. The property was bought by a charity registered in Barcelona in 1993. For us the integration of caring for all forms of life from the micro-organisms in the soil to the micro-biome in our gut is of prime importance for health restoration and maintenance. The much prized thermal waters are a key asset which can assist with many kinds of health difficulties.

We are delighted when volunteers from diverse countries join us to share in our quest to be of service to those of less fortunate circumstances through illness, traumas, injury or bereavement, or just a need to chill-out.

The concept of a campus has taken fresh meaning quite recently. The need and demand for a “Free School” for secondary ages has emerged. A dedicated local group is working to raise funds for the initial presentational plans. Interest and input from volunteers will be welcomed.

We have found that it works better all round when there are a minimum of two volunteers – they may come as friends travelling together, a couple or by arrangement through our co-ordinator.

There is a minimum stay length of 3 weeks.
There are laying chickens and 3 small dogs and cat to look after.
There is an organic vegetable garden and the buildings are set in 14 hectares of woodland and terraces.

We have visitors from many different countries. Here there is also plenty of opportunity to meet the local fraternity. Life is social affair here There is a constant flow of visitors, especially in summer, coming to enjoy the gardens, the thermal pool and the park. You will thus meet and get to know my Spanish people.

We share our insights and aspirations with you in talking over meals and in also adrressing all the practical tasks of maintaining the wonderful space. Teaching in the Doing is our maxim. We all learn 95% by examples.

The area has many attractions. There are Fiestas Mayores in the different surrounding villages almost every week-end during the summer. An international accordian festival takes place in July in Asergel, just a few kilometres away.

We go walking in the high mountains – sometimes camping a night or two. An expert mycologist friend sometimes leads expeditions to find all manner of fungi. Many new experiences will enhance your stay with us.

Volunteers will be guided in a wide variety of skills and no doubt some will teach us things that they have learnt elsewhere. We will be constructing a Temescal for hot/cold therapy in the autumn.

Our enthusiam for better nutrition shows in our own fresh organic produce, in fermenting of foods, and in careful selection of health-giving ingredients. We all learn from each other, exchanging innovative recipes from many cultures.
