Who Are We?
Hey there! I’m Yixuan, a curious soul and storyteller from China, and I’m traveling with my amazing girlfriend, who’s basically the better half of this duo. Let me tell you a bit about her: she’s responsible, kind-hearted, and—if I may brag a little—absolutely adorable. She studied broadcasting and arts in university, so if you ever need someone to narrate your life like a soothing podcast host, she’s your girl.

As for me, I’ve spent most of my life chasing interesting people, jaw-dropping stories, and that “aha!” moment when you truly connect with someone from a completely different world. I’m a documentary filmmaker by trade, which basically means I get paid (well, sometimes) to ask nosy questions, crash into other people’s lives, and turn their stories into films. Over the years, I’ve captured the lives of independent artists in Beijing, small-town influencers who can’t afford their own lunch, and even a rural school with just one student in the entire grade! Oh, and once, I edited a film for the son of a famous actor who played an emperor in a Chinese drama — the dad had serious emperor energy, let me tell you.

Why Workaway?
The world, to us, is like a giant buffet — there’s just so much to taste, and we want seconds of everything. Workaway feels like the perfect chance to dive headfirst into new cultures, share our stories, and swap perspectives with people from every corner of the planet.

Plus, we’ve always been fascinated by language and communication. My dad, who’s been a teacher for over 30 years, once told me, “Good conversations are the best teachers.” I live by that. My girlfriend and I both love connecting with people, so we’re not just here to “teach” — we’re here to chat, share laughs, and create those magical moments of cultural exchange.

What We Bring to the Table
Between the two of us, we’ve got a pretty solid skill set. I’m a filmmaker, so I can help document your daily life, create content for a project, or just help you go viral on social media (kidding… unless?). I’m also happy to teach Mandarin, introduce you to Chinese culture, or even cook up a hotpot if you’re feeling adventurous.

My girlfriend, on the other hand, is a natural communicator thanks to her background in broadcasting and arts. She’s great at organizing, teaching, and making people feel at ease. She’s also an animal lover, so if you’ve got pets, she’ll probably end up spoiling them rotten. Together, we’re a team that’s creative, kind, and always ready to lend a hand.

What We’re Like
We’re open-minded, easygoing, and always up for a good laugh. I’m the slightly chaotic, overenthusiastic one who gets excited about weird fun facts, while my girlfriend is the calm and gentle voice of reason (and probably the one you’ll like better). We both adore kids—me because they’re like little comedians with zero filters, and her because she has a natural warmth that kids gravitate toward.

I have a wide range of hobbies, including playing guitar and singing, as well as enjoying sports like football, basketball, ping pong, and badminton. While I’m far from being a pro in any of these, I genuinely enjoy them and love staying active.

My girlfriend, on the other hand, has a passion for experimenting with Western bread-making, even if her creations don’t always turn out as tasty as she hopes. We also share a common interest in cooking and are both capable of preparing simple Chinese dishes.
