Hi I'm Val I am a teacher of Spanish and French ( little ones) in an independent school in Scotland and as I am timetabled to teach French this year, I am keen to do some volunteering in France to practise the language and be a bit more confident. I am in Lower Normandy on a school trip until August 1st and am planning to stay in France to volunteer. I start back at school on 14th August, so don't have much time but J just can't fit it in otherwise. I am a reasonably fit 63 year-old, sociable and young at heart. I love meeting interesting people and learning. I am always encouraging my senior pupils to volunteer abroad, so here goes! Practise what you preach 😀 I like animals and although I have a dog, I don't have experience working with them. Keen to step out of my comfort zone.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I'm good with people and children as I have 5 grown-up children of my own and 3 young grandchildren. I can cook and bake ( grub not fine cuisine) I ran an Airbnb whilst holding down a full- time teaching job , so I'm not frightened of hard work and know how to make people feel welcome and well- looked after. I can keep a house. I speak Spanish fluently after 9 years in Spain, speak French less well but am keen to.improve it have some Italian and obviously English but my hoal us to be immersed in every-day French.

Was noch ...

I am looking to spend time with interesting people who are keen to talk to me in French and from whom I will learn. I enjoy real conversation. I am a hard- worker but i am not looking to overwork as I am back to full- time teaching mid- August . I am quick to learn and keen to help and I think I can turn ny hand to just about anything, as well as a bit of DIY . I cannot truthfully say that I know about or love gardening but could help.out but would prefer other tasks, if I'm honest. I only have at the most 10 days to volunteer as I am in Normandy for a school trip which ends on 1st August and I must be back in Glasgow by the 12th. Really hoping that despite that, it woukd be worth the hosts taking a chance on me!
