Hey there, I'm Anna from Canada, travelling slowly and open-endedly...😊
I want to contribute to projects that involve topics I'm passionate about:
- animal rescue or animal therapy
- eco-tourism
- social enterprises
- alternative/disability education.
Most of my personal and work experience is in non-profits/social services (mental health, addiction, housing) and teaching/tutoring English. (I love anything that combines the arts with advocacy and education!)
I'm good at big picture thinking and I work well in small, collaborative environments. I'm a big fan of humour and silliness, but I also enjoy discussing social issues and philosophical questions. I may not be the physically strongest or most manually dexterous volunteer you've ever had, but I make up for it in resourcefulness and perseverance and I'm always open to learning new ways to do things!
A few other things about me that may help you decide if we're a good fit:
- ADHD makes me an enthusiastic and curious learner, but I need patience and sometimes clarification several times when I'm learning a new task, especially if it involves using my hands.
- I can't lift heavy things by myself because of chronic pain issues
- I don't have a driver's license or my own vehicle
- I'm not much of a cook 😅
(I generally try not to contact hosts that would require these things of me anyway, but I think it's fair to share this in advance so we have realistic expectations. Despite my challenges, I am willing to find a solution to make this a fair and fun exchange for us both.)
