Beschreibung
Hi there,
We are a family of four; Cairo 3, Amari 6, Shannel 38, and Elias 39. We joined the Workaway community because we want to make the most of our time together as a family while connecting with and learning from others through hard work, food and community. Our hope is to learn from people who can teach us alternative ways of living and to deepen our experience of living off the land. In Sept. 2023, we left San Francisco and began our one year adventure with our kids. We began on a dairy farm for three months in Oregon, worked in community garden in La Paz, Mexico, did a Workaway project in Portugal, and spend part of last summer working on an organic farm in Cornwall, England. We currently live in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
When we're not working (Shannel is a psychotherapist and Elias is a writer and photographer), our family seeks culturally-rich experiences. Living simply with modest indulgences is what we strive for.
Travel — and Workaway, specifically — creates an environment where many of the qualities we hold dear can be cultivated for us and our boys: adaptability, resiliency, hard work, cooperation, exposure to different lifestyles and viewpoints. Above all, we want to raise good global citizens who are curious, compassionate and open-minded.
We enjoy hiking, nature, gardening, exploring hidden playgrounds, practicing meditation, being involved with the boys' Waldorf-inspired school, volunteering and cooking a variety of cuisines.
Beyond the ability to work hard with a positive attitude, we find that our professional skills often come in handy while volunteering and traveling. We are easy going and love meeting new people.
Beyond some core skills listed in our profile, we are open and interested in learning new skills and greasing the wheel of creativity in all of us. We look forward to connecting with the Workaway community!
