I consider myself a very hands-on, adaptable, and enthusiastic learner. My professional background is in sustainability, which gives me a great respect for resources, efficiency, and mindful work.

My Practical Experience:

Gardening & Farming: I have previously done WWOOFing on an organic farm, where I gained hands-on experience in planting, weeding, and understanding the basics of food production. I genuinely enjoy getting my hands dirty and working outdoors.

Problem-Solving & Organization: Through my professional life, I’ve developed strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Creative Skills: I have a good eye for photography and a love for music, so I’m always happy to help with social media, documenting project updates, or just bringing good energy and rhythm to the daily tasks!

What I want to learn:
While I have some experience in eco-projects, my biggest skill is my openness to learn. I am eager to learn about bioconstruction, permacultura, animal care, cooking local recipes, or any DIY projects you might have. I catch on quickly and am always ready for a new challenge!

When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll probably find me staying active or doing something creative. Here are a few things I’m passionate about:

Lindy Hop & Swing Dancing: I love dancing Lindy Hop! It’s all about connection, improvisation, and joy. I’m always down to play some swing music and show you a few basic steps if you’re curious.

Analog Photography: I have a soft spot for film cameras. I love the slow process of capturing moments on film and developed a sharp eye for detail because of it.

Padel: I really enjoy playing padel! It’s a great way to exercise, have fun, and meet new people. If there’s a court nearby, count me in for a match.

Drawing: Sketching and drawing is my favorite way to unwind, slow down, and visually record the world around me.

I’m always open to discovering new hobbies, trying local sports, or just sitting down for a good chat over tea or coffee!

Vom Workawayer für Host (Help with creative projects ...)

Pros:
- Great communication with the host. Leandra was always very approachable, friendly, and available whenever I needed information or help.
- A lot of flexibility with the working schedule. During most of my stay, the weather was quite rainy, so Leandra was flexible about when I completed my hours. This allowed me to rearrange my schedule and … read more make the most of my time in Bergen whenever the weather was better.
- A very spacious and comfortable room. I also needed to do some personal work during my stay, and the room was perfect for that, with plenty of space and a comfortable environment.
- A very musical household. I had the privilege of attending a lovely private concert by Leandra and her partner! The house also has several musical instruments, and I would occasionally hear some banjo practice while doing my work, which made for a very pleasant background soundtrack.
- The sauna, Leandra's cats, and the opportunity to meet some lovely people staying at the guesthouse were definitely highlights of my stay.

Cons:
- Location and transportation. The house is located on Askøy, around 1–1.5 hours from Bergen by public transportation. There is a bus connection, but it runs approximately every 40 minutes, so getting into Bergen requires some planning. Before my arrival, Leandra had mentioned that I could borrow her bike, which I had taken into consideration when planning my stay. However, once I arrived, I was told that the bike was not available.
- Limited food provided. The food pantry had only a few basic products, such as pasta, rice, and canned beans. For most other food, I had to shop at the supermarkets nearby. As food in Norway is already quite expensive, having to also pay for public transportation to get groceries made this more costly than I had expected.
- The natural surroundings were different from what I expected. Although the location is surrounded by beautiful nature, the house itself does not have direct access to the fjord. I was hoping to be able to go for ocean swims, but the land around the fjord is privately owned, so accessing the water would mean trespassing. I had a similar experience with hiking: I tried exploring the surrounding area, but many of the paths eventually led to someone's house or cabin, which made me feel uncomfortable.
- The nature of the work. The house is also an Airbnb/guesthouse, and as I was the only Workawayer during my stay, the work sometimes felt more like being a cleaner/maid than participating in a cultural exchange. The tasks included cleaning bathrooms and the kitchen, washing bed sheets and towels, as well as some painting work, such as painting a cabinet and a wall. Because I was the only Workawayer, the work could also feel somewhat isolating at times.

Overall, I’m grateful to Leandra for the opportunity and for the flexibility she showed me during my stay. However, taking into account the location, limited food provision, type of work, and the fact that I was the only Workawayer, I personally wouldn’t choose to do this Workaway again, although I’m still thankful for the experience and for the positive moments I had there.
