I am a residential support worker within the Deaf community in the UK, I mostly work with kids and helping them develop life skills as well as looking after them. However my background before this job was hospitality, retail and kitchen work so I am use to hard hours and manual labour.

Took some time out and am travelling between UK and Portugal and looking to explore new areas and spend time in different areas!

I have been working since i was 13, I started as a gymnastics coach for 3 years and then went on to work in retail and hospitality. I am use to moving heavy things around and completeing tasks

currently I work with the Deaf children within the Deaf community at a school in the UK so i Know sign language and planning/organisation and cooking skills

I can sail, and love a good card game but am very happy finding my inner peace meditating

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Join us while living off-grid ...)

This family have been nothing but fantastic to me, I had been welcomed into their home as one of their own,

Prem is a true green finger, knowledgeable on the local plant life and a true tree (and cactus) enthusiast, I learnt a great many things about the land and to be aware of the ground beneath my feet, working with him during the days was … read more rewarding and actively being able to see the difference made at the end of each day to the land was a reward like no other. When the fires came his true colours of being a man happy to walk towards the flames to do what he can to defend his home made it clear to me that he is the friend you both need and want.

Roshnii is an incredibly thoughtful and generous human being, dedicated to her family and her own studies, gentle in her approach to things but was more than happy to open up her home to me in more than just a work setting, a fantastic cook, guitarist/song writer (although I only heard her once at one of their celebrations)and always happy to listen whenever I went on a ramble about my hobbies or stories, a look through some of their picture books makes it clear she is a someone who has lived through life as herself and brings a truly positive energy to all situations.

The oldest son is a very intelligent and interesting young man, it took a little bit to warm up to regular conversation but the conversations we did have and listening to his projects, interests and willingness to help his family (and the youngest baby in the family) was inspiring, I really look forward to seeing what he continues to do with his life as I am certain that whatever he chooses to do he will do it with thought, knowledge and kindness.

The second son is a great source of energy in the house, like his father his knowledge of local plants and trees far exceeds my own, while he very much enjoys company of his friends and his own space, he was always happy to talk, and get stuck in helping when it was needed most, I loved that he is very much his own character and had a slight mischievous smile on him 99% of the time I was around him, happy to share his thoughts or opinions on any topic, I truly hope we get the chance to bond further in future over particular nerdy hobbies.

Their daughter has to be the funniest young lady I have every met, an infectious laugh, can do (and often a little silly) attitude to things, but don't let that fool you, she is smart, quick and a damn good card player. my first introduction to this family before workaway was their daughter and it almost told me everything I would need to know about this family, always happy to play a game or sit and chat or show/share with you whatever it is she might be doing, quick to question things and someone I am very glad to be considered Uncle to. I hope to repay the additional joy she brought to the everyday in time.

The baby boy! It was a real privilege to be allowed into this boy's life at a young age and even luckier that we bonded as we did, a truly happy baby curious about the world around him, eager to see it all, touch it all and taste it all! Over my stay i watched him go from crawling to walking and to watch him grow up in such a beautiful place (as I believe all children should) is something that gives me true drive and hope for my own future if/when I have my own children.

The Dog! blackberry is a total love bug, a handful at times but what is a family without a nice measure of chaos. a true companion and a joy to be with. be warned, if you start stroking her she might not let you stop!

I will forever be grateful to this family and would recommend them to anyone who is willing to get stuck into a truly amazing experience in all aspects.

Thank you massively and good luck to anyone who chooses to work with this family. You won't regret it

(p.s the food is fantastic and the views are phenomenal. lots of work to be done to help nurture and protect the lad since the fires but really, I have no faults with any of my stay)

It has been such a pleasure and a help having Sacha stay and work with us two times now. He is great with the kids, fun to have around, hard working, a skilled dog sitter and a clear communicator. I would recommend him to other hosts and hope he will come and stay again.
