Beschreibung
Hola! We are Sacha and Jeanne, a French couple currently travelling in Argentina, after being in Brasil and Chile for more than three months. We plan to travel for about a year in South America, to discover different cultures, learn new languages, and take a break from work. The timing was perfect as both our contracts were ending at the same time, in september 2024, so we decided to travel for a while. We also felt a bit "off", wanting to do meaningfull things but not knowing "how" or "what". We believe that volunteering could help us to find an answer to these questions, while learning new skills, new languages, as well as meeting new people with other experience of life!!
Jeanne: I am 25 and I work in cultural communication. I speak English, French, a bit of Spanish, and my Portuguese is starting to get better. I love seeing movies, going to jazz concerts and all sorts of cultural events. I'm used to travelling using platforms such as Couchsurfing, I did a solo tour of Europe last year. I love animals and I am sensitive to the subject of the environment, which is why I became a vegetarian about five years ago. I am not sure of what I want to do in life yet, but I’m curious about everything and I want to do my best to try and learn new skills!
Sacha: I am 25 years old and I am (or was?) a cyber security engineer. I also have a master degree in computer science and telecommunications. As I love to explain technical things that I’ve learn dyring my studies or work in a simple way, if you have interest in any of these fields, please reach out! I speak English, French, and a little bit Portuguese. I love to hike, listen to music (jazz, samba, funk …), play guitar or read books (I am into 20th century literature). I'm also used to travelling by myself (using hostels or Couchsurfing as well). I have lived in Norway for six months last year, which was a very enriching - and cold - experience! I love animals, and especially dogs, which seem to feel it as they are often following me everywhere.
At the moment, we are in the south of Argentina. We already had a few volunteering experiences: for an NGO at Ilha Grande (Brasil) where the objective was to add value to the garbage of the island. Sorting and recycling plastics, making compost…
After that, we spent two weeks in the south of Brasil, where we helped the host with homesitting and managing Airbnb guests.
And more recently, we were in Punta Arenas (Chile) working on a fruit farm with an amazing woman named Patricia. We helped her pick fruits (mostly raspberries), make homemade jams and delicious food. It was an unforgettable experience!
Now, our goal is to reach the North of Chile by hitchhiking. We travelled this way all the way to the South of Argentina, which was perfect to meet new people and get a chance to practice spanish!
Thus, we are now looking for new volunteering opportunities to discover the country with locals, and to keep learning spanish in order to become fluent in that language! Waking up early is not a problem for us, and we love living in the nature (we lived for two weeks in a tent in the jungle)!

We are both currently learning Portuguese, and would like to pratice it as much as possible. We are now able to understand a lot of things, even though speaking remains more difficult. We are also learning Spanish. We are able to teach English or French if you have interest in learning these languages.

Was könntest du arbeiten?
Sacha: I have experience in gardening, construction (isolation, roof, painting…) and bee keeping. One of my useful passion is chopping wood for the fireplace, which I did a lot with my father. I have grew up in the French countryside, and I have always lived with a dog and few chickens, so I would say that I am also experienced in animal caring. From a woofing experience, I now have knowledge and experience in recycling plastics!
Since I am a computer science engineer (more specifically in cybersecurity), I have a lot of experience and knowledge in this area, which I would love to share :)
Jeanne: I grew up in the city so I've had fewer experiences working outside or gardening, but I've had plenty of jobs which could be useful. I've worked in a corn field, been a housekeeper in a hotel and a nurse for children. I have also worked in several restaurants and stores.
Thanks to my previous job (communication for a cinema organization), I know how to manage a social media page and create content. I also have a degree in English litterature so I can help teach English classes, or translate texts.
We are both hard workers not afraid of waking up early or working in the dirt, and we love to learn new skills. We have both volunteered for different organizations such as NGO Somos Natureza (beach clean up and plastics recycling), Jazz in Marciac (Jazz festival), Amnesty International or Cine Latino (South American Cinema hosted in France)
We would love to learn to do new things, we are highly motivated to volunteer! If you have knowledge in sustainable construction, bamboos or wood working, and ceramic, then your place looks like the place to be!!
