Beschreibung

Hi! We´re Remco and Doris from the Netherlands. We have renovated a van together this summer and will be traveling around Europe for an indefinite amount of time! We've wanted to do this for some time now, both for the freedom this brings (no more 9-5 or busy schedules) and our shared enjoyment of nature and meeting new like-minded people. We're mainly interested in getting to know - and working alongside - people that have experience with (or are in the process of starting) communal living projects. Living a self-sufficient life together with the people we love is something we would love to do ourselves, and we are both interested in learning more about the process of creating such a place as well as learning the skills required to live off the land. We're interested in going many different places (varying from Slovenia to Turkey to Ireland..), and we will simply have to see where this journey takes us!

Remco:
Hi, I´m Remco, 31 years old. I work as an independent graphic designer and website-developer. As a solo-company I’ve had a lot of fun working on creative projects over the past years, but I’m looking for something more social which allows me to spend more of my time outside. I have a technical mind, am a quick learner and I work with patience and precision.

In my free time I’m outside a lot and I enjoy building and creating. For example, together with friends I’ve built an amazing boat, a project that has taught me a lot and that I’ve enjoyed (and still enjoy) immensely. Besides that, I love everything that lives and grows. My house is overflowing with plants (that will sadly now have to find a new place to live) and I love caring for animals as well. For me this journey is about finding new experiences, in nature and in working and living with others. I’m looking for places where I can contribute to projects, learn new skills and meet new people. I would love to assist you in building projects, gardening or other practical jobs. I’m looking forward to putting aside my digital skills for a bit, and learning more about living in communities and working on sustainable projects. Through workaway I hope to find beautiful places where I can utilize my knowledge and enthusiasm to create something wonderful together!

Doris:
I'm Doris, 28 years old, ex-language and literature student and English teacher. I love reading, long conversations about philosophy/politics/spirituality/education/any simple or complex subject that comes to mind, drawing, hiking, mountains, rivers, and dogs. I’ve been living with 3 friends in a renovated farmhouse for 4 years before this, a place where all our friends would get together around a fire, and where we organized a festival in our backyard for the last 3 years. I would love to create a similar space in the future, but am very interested in doing so abroad instead of in the Netherlands (where mountains are hard to find). I would love to learn more about permaculture and generally about growing your own food, animal care and things like making cheese and preserving food. I’ve had some experience with growing fruit and vegetables but am still in a learning stage. I would also love to help with building projects and I would very much enjoy cooking and walking your dogs for you!

I (Doris) am an English teacher who could teach beginner/intermediate/advanced level English if you're interested! I also tutored kids in many other high-school subjects, so would be able to do that as well (at high-school level). I am not looking for a teaching job, but some hours on the side would definitely be possible.
