I really enjoy hiking and sometimes cycling but only if I have a good bike! Environmental projects particularly with regard to trees.

Beschreibung

I am very keen to improve the little Spanish I have and thought I could combine it with experiencing new places and meeting new people. I love being out of doors and currently volunteer for a woodland charity planting trees and gardening. I'm hoping to find new challenges and make new friends.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

During my paid employment years I worked as an IT systems trainer. I travelled extensively within the UK and also to Poland, Netherlands, Norway and France training users on Microsoft products. I am very organised and reliable and always work to the best of my ability. I now enjoy finding new activities including volunteering with a forestry charity and I have been planting trees, hedges and working in the large country garden owned by the charity. I have childcare experience and the domestic skills required to run a house and home. Since 2001 I have spent a great deal of time in Spain and I am now determined to improve my Spanish and explore more of Spain. I am fit, capable, full of energy and hoping to find workaway placements that offer new challenges and opportunities to learn new skills and meet new people.

Here is a sample of some of the activities I have been involved in

Cleaning a swimming pool, sweeping the terraces, weeding and general garden maintenance, planting trees and hedges, painting walls inside and outside, clean a barbecue, cooking/baking, gardening, collected horse manure. housework including making beds, washing and ironing, cleaning yoga mats, steam cleaning carpets, childcare. I have reasonably good IT skills and know my way around Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Dynamics CRM.

Currently I regularly play tennis, cycle, practice Pilates and Yoga and use a gym. I enjoy walking e.g. Crete walking in the White Mountains. I have also spent a lot of time in Spain in the Lecrin Valley and walked in and around the Sierra Nevada and Alpujarra.

Although my interests are mainly around outdoor activities such as gardening, cycling and hiking I also enjoy reading and cooking. Having said that I am open to learning or taking part in any activity for example I recently spent a day learning how to repair a dry stone wall. I volunteer for a local environmental group which involves planting trees and hedges as well as maintenance of woodland. I also take part in environmental activities like pond surveys and butterfly surveys.

I can also play!! Scrabble, Monopoly and am learning chess. I enjoy reading and love to encourage young children to read and enjoy books by reading to them. I also think it is important to encourage other more practical activities such as drawing, painting and cooking as well as fun times playing out of doors.

I was brought up in a big family (3 sisters and a brother) and I have brought up two daughters.

Finally I own a car in Spain which is kept close to Malaga airport so I am mobile and independent on mainland Spain. I have done a lot of driving in Spain and am a competent driver.
