My name is Petr, I’m 30 years old and originally from the Czech Republic.
At the end of 2023, I decided to go on a “journey around the world,” as I had no commitments in my home country, wasn’t fully happy staying there and wanted to explore more of the world.
Since then, I’ve explored Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bali, visited the Philippines, Fiji, Sydney, and Dubai but most importantly, I spent a year in New Zealand, which gave me countless life experiences, unforgettable memories, and - best of all - the chance to meet my partner.

My name is Lene, I am 21 years old and originally from South Africa but have lived in New Zealand for the last 14 years. My family immigrated to NZ in order to give me and my younger brother a better future which I am thankful for as it gave me the opportunities i have now to travel the world. I decided to go on this journey not just because i met Petr but because it gave me the opportunity to grow as a person and learn more about what life has to offer. I really had to climb out of the bubble i was comfortable in to get on a plane alone and fly over 17k kilometers away from family and friends to explore what the rest of the world is like. if i had to ask myself many years if this was something i would ever do i would have said "NEVER!".

We worked as volunteers on a farm in County Wexford for 5 weeks and then in a paid position on a Christmas tree farm in County Wicklow for 7 weeks until December 20th. We are currently spending a holiday in the Czech Republic over Christmas and January and will return to Ireland on January 31st.

From the middle of February or the beginning of March, we are ideally looking for paid work, as we both have PPS numbers. But at the same time, we are also open to volunteering opportunities where we could help out for a few weeks, gain new experience, and contribute in a meaningful way while continuing our journey.

What motivates us most is gaining new experiences, discovering beautiful and interesting places, meeting people from different cultures, exchanging stories, and feeling that sense of connection that travel naturally brings.

Lene- i personally enjoy teaching others and showing others new things. In terms of english it may not be my first language but i am fluent in it. In my years of work there has been many occasions where ive had to teach workers english that were apart of my team and their ethnicity varied from french to malaysian.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We are both responsible and reliable people who can work independently as well as in a team. We are good at planning and organizing, and we are not afraid of hard manual work.

Petr- My experience includes working as a bartender, driver, farm worker (maintenance), fruit picker and pruner in a kiwi orchard, greenhouse worker growing cucumbers and worker on a christmas tree farm. During my travels, I also volunteered in a hostel in Sri Lanka, which gave me useful hospitality experience.

In the Czech Republic, I’ve also been involved in property management and investments, but I believe that’s less relevant here, so I’ll just keep it short.

Lene- Before commencing on my travels with Petr, I was working and studying horticulture for 5 years since i was 16. I was part of the management team for two of those years as a Team Leader. This career helped me gain experience in pest/diseases, plant care, maintenance work, people skills/team work, leadership skills and so much more. I have obtained a Level 5 Certificate in Indoor Crop Production( aka glasshouse growing like tomatoes and cucmbers for example).
I also have extensive skills in IT in terms of microsoft applications and HTML coding, which i am more than willing to help other with. I can be tech savy with most things , and always willing to try even if im not 100 percent sure.
I love planning and organising. It gives me joy to make some elses life easier by making schedules, cleaning or anything like that which coincides with my IT skills.

Was noch ...

Petr - I love all kinds of sports (I played football competitively from the age of 7 until I left country in 2023). I enjoy working out, running, hiking, skiing, gardening, and learning new languages. I also like watching movies and series, reading books, and listening to self-improvement podcasts.

Lene- My NZ drivers licence is not valid in the EU as i am only on a restricted licence not a full but i am able to drive.
I love anything to do with plants as i have studied horticulture for many years now since i was 16 and also embrace it as a hobby, I have MANY house plants. I enjoy anything artistic as well like painting,drawing writing etc and i am currently studing for a diploma in photography. I played almost every sport i could during school but mainly played Netball and competed in athletic track events. I love passing on any knowledge I can, throughout the covid times I was tutoring/teaching my brother in maths and english.
