Hey there! My name is Paula, I'm 22 years old and recently graduated from University with a Bachelor in Psychology. Before continuing my studies and jumping into full-time work life I want to take some time to do what I love most: explore new cultures, connect with different people and hopefully also be of use wherever I can! Besides my passion for travelling I love making music, going hiking, spending time with friends or getting hooked on a really good novel.

During the last few years I was able to gain some insight into humanitarian volunteer work, working with children affected by adversity and supervising children in a summer camp. Maybe needless to say then, I have found working with children to be extremely fulfilling and exciting. Nevertheless, I would also love to explore and learn new skills and get out of my comfort zone!

With that being said, I am thrilled to start my journey and make my first, (hopefully) unforgettable experience with Workaway and meet as many of you as possible.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Volunteering in Huancayo, Peru for Expand Peru for a month working at "Casa Project", a socio-educational assistance center for children aged 6-12 and "Strong Mothers Project" providing childcare to infants and young children of teenage mothers.

Volunteering in Taltal, Chile at EFTG Language school teaching English to children aged 6-18 and adults.

Supervising children in a summer camp: This summer I worked in a summer camp for children aged 6-12 where I planned and supervised various recreational educational activities, managed conflict and communicated effectively with parents, children and colleagues

Psychology internship: I was an intern at a children's charity in Scotland where I built a trusting and supportive relationship with two children affected by trauma and assisted a day care for young children (aged 1-3) affected by adversity where I significantly improved my active listening skills. I planned nurturing and development-fostering activities and critically reflected after each session to plan ahead for the next.

Volunteering with refugees: In summer 2022, I travelled to Chisinau, Moldova to volunteer with RefugeeSupportEurope, where I served Ukrainian refugees with basic necessities, engaging in both administrative and manual work. Collaborating in a multicultural team we fostered a dignified and supportive environment for everyone coming to the centre.

Waitressing: Throughout the years I have worked in various hospitality settings as a waitress, where I learned how to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and how to demonstrate resilience under stress.

Medical internship: During the summer of my last year of high school I volunteered with ProjectsAbroad in Kathmandu, where I stayed with a local host family and shadowed medical staff in a hospital. I learned how to adapt to new environments and how to engage in cross-cultural communication.
