Hi! My name is Nienke and I am a visual anthropology student in the Netherlands!
I am currently working on a project that revolves around human relationships with trees and forests, focusing on the sensory and symbolic connections we share with the more-than-human world.

For this project, I am looking to connect with people who live somewhat solitary lives and have a deep connection with the natural world—one that goes beyond seeing nature as just a resource or background scenery. More importantly, I’m looking for someone who might be interested in becoming a collaborator to co-create a film with me.
The idea is to spend over two months, starting in January, living in close connection with the environment and forming deep relationships with you as my informant. I would, of course, also be there and able to help with all kinds of other chores!

I’m known for being empathetic and sensitive, and I find that others tend to feel comfortable and at ease around me. I love being outside, and I’m a good cook, an avid reader, and a writer. With my background in filmmaking, I’ve developed skills in capturing personal stories and experiences in a thoughtful and creative way. I’m also a fast learner and always eager to explore new things, especially when it comes to deepening my connection with the natural world.

I am a fun and warm person, looking to form deep connections to others! I am a little introverted, so it might take me a while to adjust to new settings, but when I feel comfortable, I am a joy to have around!
