Beschreibung
We have now been on our Workaway journey for 4 years, living and travelling in our mo
During 2024 we took a step back from travelling to renovate our own base - a historic Victorian Gate Lodge. With that now complete we are ready to get back on the road.
To be able to visit and explore different parts of the country while sharing our skills and abilities with others is extremely rewarding for us. We are fit, willing to get stuck in and quick learners with an appetite for a challenge.
We are at our happiest in the countryside and with nature. Whether exploring on foot or by bike, photographing, foraging or simply admiring the view, there is always something to enjoy in the great outdoors regardless of where we are.
We live in our motorhome full time and are self contained, all we need is water, a plug socket and somewhere to park. We are happy to join in at family mealtimes or to do our own thing as circumstances dictate.

Was könntest du arbeiten?
We are both extremely active and hands on. Our recent property development experience has taught us many useful land based skills including excavator driving, chainsaw & strimmer operation, ground clearance, demolition, walling etc. We are both competent and adventurous cooks with a taste for Slow Food. Neil has previous experience in business startups, marketing, advertising, copywriting, editing and is computer literate.
Also extensive mechanical knowledge, an interest in automotive and 4x4s, having previously worked as an instructor for Land Rover. Leilani has experience in childcare, nannying and housekeeping as well as a flair for interior design and design consultancy experience in home furnishing retail. We are interested in projects that utilise our existing skills but are equally keen to learn something new along the way.

We were last minute arrivals with Di and Bungie to help with some overdue chores and they were such generous and kind hosts.
Accommodation is excellent and the work is not too demanding, especially in the heat. We tidied, cleaned and helped with fencing and plumbing tasks.

Neil & Leilani were great at just getting on with a job. They tackled a range of jobs whilst staying with us, but I think their forte was organising and tidying a series of rooms that had got out of control with stuff & dust! Everything cleaned and organised which was a huge help.

Mike and Sam (and the lovely Pippa) have an awesome task with their traditional townhouse restoration.
They very kindly hosted us when another arranged host dropped out and we are very grateful they were able to accommodate us despite already having a houseful of volunteers.

La Parilla is a beautiful location and Ane Marie is a very gracious host.
The Workaway accomodation in the old Chapel is quite unique and we were very well looked after.
We had plenty of opportunity to explore the charming local towns and mountain region.

Neil And Leilani were great to host. Easy going to be around.
They build a stone wall at our finca and did it with precision and skill.
They were both well experienced, inspiring and very responsible at work.

Doug and Wendy are excellent hosts and Villa Olivia is a beautiful home to share with them.
During our stay we assisted with gardening and DIY projects around house.
Doug is a seasoned raconteur at the Dinner table and Wendy makes a first class Roast Chicken Dinner.

Neil and Leiliani spent a month with us living in their mobile home on the yard. Together we did a lot of sucessful work. One of these was to work on a 7m oak trunk that had fallen into the river last year. It was too heavy to lift but we successfully milled it into liftable planks. Neil and Leilanie stayed with us for some weeks during the most dreary weather. Allways optimistic and helpfull. They are certainly fit, willing to get stuck in and quick learners with an appetite for a challenge! we very much appreciated their work and compant and can only hope they will return some day with better weather to enjoy farm stay.

Eline was a great host, and very good cook!
We were kept busy with building projects and learned some new skills along the way. There wasn't as much working with the animals as we hoped, but I guess this varies seasonally.
We enjoyed exploring the area, particularly Groningen which is a really cool town.

It was a pleasure meeting and hosting Neil and Leilana.
Two great people with humor and very curious to get to know the region.
We had a few dinners together, alwaus very nice.
Another really positive thing: they can do everything, very handy, they think together with you about a project. They did so much. We are very thankfull for that!

We stayed with Ioana and family at the end of summer so there was plenty of work to do clearing polytunnels and harvesting.
Each day there are orders to pick and collate so we learned about different produce and how it is grown in an organic environment.

We loved our time at the farm and were made very welcome. We were kept busy with the Apple Juice business as well as many other projects around the farm and even the local village. Very relaxed atmosphere and great hosts who were happy to help with any needs we had.

This was our first Workaway experience so it took us a little while to get used to the concept of sharing time with another family. Sonia and Graham were very well organised and have a great business which keeps everyone busy. We were very well fed with fresh produce and had plenty of opportunity to explore the fantastic surrounding area.
