Hi- I'm Martin. I'm a dad and first time workaway member. I worked as an operations VP in business for 15 years and am in the midst of a shift to working in climate/conservation and we are also exploring the idea of a different way of living outside the US. We are from Florida in the US and enjoy outdoor adventures. In our down time, you can find us backpack camping, hiking, or kayaking. This will be my/our first time as a Workaway-er but have traveled for leisure a fair amount. I value learning new things and new experiences that challenge me and the way I view the world.

I am planning to bring our son, who is 8.5 years old. He is a smart, capable young man who enjoys the outdoors, is creative ( plays cello and enjoys making things), is curious, and respectful.

Our goal is to gain a deeper appreciation for another place and culture while giving back to our host, the environment and local community. I speak only limited Spanish but am working on brushing up and he can only do basic phrases but was learning quickly on our last trip. We are seeking natural, culture and language immersion experience to make both his and my world bigger and we hope to contribute the same to you.

I am interested and willing to teach ESOL/ English as Foreign Language to adults and children. My Spanish has retreated to basic level but happy to help in structured programs that allow for that or with general local/home interaction!

I have a variety of skills to offer a potential host:
Business and Technical-
*I have created professional websites on wix for other businesses, marketing on social media through Canva, lead generation pipelines and general process operations documents
* Skilled in a variety of business domains if you have a particular need
*Developed custom system modifications in CRM and basic business tools to keep small business organized and profitable

Kids and Family-
* As a dad, I coach flag football and teach my son a variety of skills. Happy to help with a family with my son in the group helping as well. I want this to be an experience for him as well.
*Happy to help with general home, facilities, hostel/hotel maintenance and upkeep

Agro/Eco- I am in decent shape and can perform physical tasks related to eco projects. As someone pursuing a climate career, I am interested in learning as much as I can in this area and am happy to provide the hard work in return. I will have my son with me so would need to align safety with his involvement or a cooperative agreement with a family for him.

General Carpentry and building skills- I am not a full technical trades person but as a homeowner, I have completed a large volume of DIY projects at home and with friends and do some woodworking with a friend that owns a custom wood business. I can follow a set of instructions and work independently.

We (my son and I) love to enjoy outdoor activities in new places especially hiking or those that involve water. We both enjoy a good book and happy to help cook ( We can prep but could use recipe guidance :))

We both are learners and enjoy science/ biological subjects.

We enjoy a board game or card game and always welcome a conversation that allows us to learn from each other. My son plays cello and is great at using his imagination to find a way to enjoy the world.
