Hi, I'm Miguel :)
I'm a Brazilian who's spent the last few years living and studying around the world. I grew up in Rio de Janeiro and spent the last two years in Madrid, finishing a master's in economics. All that moving around has made me open, curious, and happy almost anywhere.
I'm easy-going and friendly and get on with all sorts of people, from children to adult, to elderly, from all over the world. I believe that all you need to make a connection, with anyone, is enthusiasm and an eagerness to understand and be understood. In my professional and academic life I've been someone who adapts quickly to different environments and works their earnestly, day-and-night if needs be, to achieve the best outcomes I think can be achieved.
I'm doing Workaway because after 5 years studying at university, getting my bachelor's and master's, I want to be able to contribute to making peoples' liver better in a tangible, physical way. After all, if not, what was the studying worth?
I also want to connect in a deeper way than just passing. I want to become part of daily life, and give something back to this world which has already given me so much.
Cannot to wait to contribute and meet some of the many wonderful people this vast planet has! I believe you are one of them -

I can teach languages. I speak English fluently and is today my main language as I have been living abroad and studying in English for the last 5 years. Since it's the language that I've used in my studies and in my academic research, I have a very deep knowledge of it. I'm also quite enthusiastic about the learning the English language through the arts, and know about English-based literature, cinema and music to be able to share it with students. In this way they can also develop this enthusiasm and be able to continuously learn and improve their language autonomously. I also speak Portuguese natively and am fluent in Spanish, besides intermediate German and Dutch, and I'm learning Mandarin. I'm happy to do conversation practice or help kids and adults with their learning in any of English, Portuguese or Spanish and German or Dutch -

Was könntest du arbeiten?
I've just finished a master's in economics and finance. I can tutor economics, maths and statistics to students at most levels. And because I've studied how money and funding works from my research I can lend a hand with budgets, planning, and finding or applying for funding. I'm also used to doing research and explaining complex things clearly, which is useful handy for all kinds of tasks.

I also believe to be literate enough in other subjects such as world history, geography and other social sciences (e.g sociology and philosophy) to help kids and adults with their learning.
Fundraising is something I've done. During the pandemic I started a small organisation in Brazil called DoarBem that helped people donate things to those who needed them. I ran it myself and worked with more than a hundred volunteers, getting deep into the intricacies on how to apply for funds or grants and which aspects to highlight for every application. From this experience I also know how to plan a donation drive, for example by finding the right people to ask for donations and producing content that actually gets people to donate.
I'm also good with content and social media. I used to work in marketing for an online company, where I grew its social media from nothing and worked out who to reach and how. I can look after your accounts, write posts, plan simple campaigns, and put together photos and short pieces that show people what you do.
And I can help with computers and getting online. I can teach the basics like email, spreadsheets and social media, or help a small project get set up online, and I'm glad to take care of the everyday digital jobs that pile up. I know more technical tools too, but I'll always keep things as simple as needed.
I'm good with communication and can work well with children, having previously done social work with children in Brazil, besides having grown up with the sweetest small sister. I'm also easy-going and learn fast, so I'm open to learning any new skills (for example manual work, construction) and help with whatever is needed the most.
I'm eager to help by using these skills and any combination of them, doing whatever I can to ensure that the project I'm inserted in succeeds. Looking forward to putting what I've learned to good use! -

Was noch ...
More than anything, I love to travel. I've been lucky to live in some very different places, like Brazil, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Spain, and to make my way through places like China, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Morocco on my own. When travelling what I love more than anything is meeting people whose lives look nothing like mine and understanding from their perspective the challenges, but most importantly the solutions, in the world. This is something I think has contributed a lot toward me having an open mind to different styles of living and making connections. It's also something that I wish to instrumentalize for my future career as I'm training to become a diplomat for Brazil as understanding world problems from original perspectives is essential for me to be able to do meaningful work that can actually assist those that need it the most.
I'm also at my happiest outdoors. Things like Animal-spotting, mountain-hiking, or a swim in the sea is enough to make me happy, and a big reason I want to volunteer is to spend time in nature and see places a normal tourist never would.
Lastly, I'm mad about football and cinema. I'm Brazilian, so football is basically in my blood. I love watching it, playing it, and taking about it with anyone who'll join in, and I can happily talk about movies for hours too. These are the things I most love sharing wherever I go. -
