Hi folks,
I'm Maura, coming from the United States (I grew up in Texas but have lived in Pennsylvania for the last six years). I am taking a break from working in community development to travel and, well, experience different communities. I studied Environmental Studies and Philosophy at university, but am keenly interested in all forms of knowledge – including practical knowledge. In fact, I love Workaway because it allows me to immerse myself in hands-on application. I am an eager learner, and can quickly pick up what I don't know. If we do meet, I think you'll find that I am a rather friendly and easy going person who is equally happy with a night of social conversation or a good book. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy meeting new people, fermentation, dancing, meditation, and learning new things.

Was noch ...

A large appeal of Workaway to me is that it allows me to slowly and intimately explore a place while also contributing to it in some way. In addition to work, I am eager to learn about your culture and community, no matter how large or small. I would be glad to do so alongside you, but I am equally comfortable exploring on my own. I understand and appreciate the importance of hosts creating time for themselves.

I very much enjoy social dancing and can teach beginner and intermediate waltz classes. At one point in my life, I baked lots of bread and brewed my own beer. I haven't done too much of either recently, but I am happy to share what I know and help you create your own starters. I have experience cooking for a household of six and and would be glad to help with communal meals. I like to experiment with foraged ingredients, but only if everyone is comfortable with the idea and I am absolutely certain that I know the ingredients I'm cooking with.
