Beschreibung

Hi there! My name is Marije, I’m 26 years old and I live in Belgium. I come from a family of four (my mother and two sisters), and currently live in a cohousing with 2 friends. I joined this platform because I want to see more of the world and stay somewhere for a longer time (preferably surrounded by nature and hiking trails), get out of my comfort zone, meet new people and learn new skills.

My friends would describe me as a person who’s polite, funny, optimistic, sporty, wants to change the world and create justice for the voiceless (animals, nature, the planet as a whole,…). I’m very very passionate about sustainable life, protecting biodiversity and fighting for justice for all the livestock.

A few previous life experiences that I will never forget:
- An immersion trip to Suriname, organised by my high school, where we mostly did volunteer work (construction work, teaching children, working with disabled people) but also slept in hammocks in the jungle. Still very grateful for that experience!
- 3 weeks of volunteering with SCI in Austria, mostly doing maintenance work in a school. We were a group of ± 10 international volunteers, and became such good friends during the experience.
- A solo travelling experience with Interrail through Europe 😊
- 3 months of travelling in France and Portugal, combining several workaways and hiking a long distance trail!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

These are some of the skills I can offer you:
- I love cooking, I’m also very interested in everything related to sustainable and healthy food (like permaculture, organic farming, plant based food -> I’m a vegetarian who tries to eat plant based as much as possible)
- I have a lot of experience with children, all of my nieces and nephews are younger than me, and I (used to) babysit a lot! I love playing with kids and teach them new things 😊
- I love writing (in my mother tongue, which is Dutch, as well as in English) and reading
- I’m a huge animal lover… I grew up on a small farm, where we kept sheep, a horse, a dog, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. I’m also quite passionate about animal rights and advocating for more animal welfare.
- I’m a tidy, neat person (learned this from my mother, our house is always very clean!), I will always clean up my own stuff.
- I’m very eager to learn new skills, from gardening to building constructions, from food preservation techniques to mindfulness. I’m a hard worker and can be on my own as well as work in a group.
