Hi I’m Makena, I’m from the U.S and over the past 4 years I have been doing seasonal work as a ski patroller and guide in Utah and Washington. I’m passionate about being outdoors, helping others and exploring new places!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Over the past four years, I’ve taken on a mix of roles that have kept me learning and growing in all kinds of environments. I’ve worked as a ski and surf instructor, ski patroller, and sea kayak guide—each of which taught me a lot about working with people, staying calm under pressure, and thinking on my feet. Lately, I’ve been working as a medical assistant at a research hospital, where I’ve been able to build on those skills in a totally different setting, helping with patient care and supporting clinical teams. It’s been a great mix of adventure, responsibility, and working closely with others.

Was noch ...

Outside of work, I’m a big fan of anything that gets me outdoors and exploring. I’ll be bikepacking around New Zealand during a five-month stay and am especially excited to dive into the ecology and history of the South Island along the way. I love skiing—I've ski patrolled for two seasons and spend a lot of my free time backcountry skiing. When I’m not outside, I’m often making or appreciating art (I studied it in college), reading, playing card games, or listening to music. I also really enjoy going to concerts and love discovering new music—it's a big part of how I unwind and connect with people!
