Currently in Warsaw (Maike) and Vienna (Moritz) for our Erasmus semesters. Interested in meeting other travellers and sharing experiences, with a focus on gardening, farm work and outdoor activities.

Beschreibung

We are Moritz (24) and Maike (22), a couple from Germany who enjoy trying all sorts of new activities together, being outdoors and generally spending time with each other. We are both students and share a strong interest in sustainability, agriculture and food systems. Through workaway we are hoping to slow down a bit, learn about everyday life, for example on a farm and are excited get our hands dirty when needed. Moritz studies geography and is especially interested in how environmental, agricultural and economic topics are connected. Apart from that he's also quite passionate about football and basketball. He enjoys approaching tasks analytically, understanding the bigger picture and working in a structured way. Maike studies nutrition and food science and is currently spending some time abroad in Warsaw which has given her a new perspective on food systems systems and sustainability. She enjoys being active, working outside and learning by doing. In our free time we enjoy hiking, cycling, long walks, running, cooking together or spending relaxed afternoons in cafés. We are easy going, reliable and are happy to help wherever needed :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Moritz: Having continously worked since I was 16, i gained experience in various environments. Although I've been mostly working in an office, for the last 5 years, the practical experiences and the 'hands-on' mindset that I gained at my first Job as a manual labourer, had an everlasting impact on me and my workethic. I sometimes miss getting out and being faced with new tasks and challenges everyday, of which I never thought about before but being faced with having to learn about them and completing them, to my bosse's satisfaction (he was always very critical but at the same time only had the best in mind for me). Nowadays, having worked at Fairtrade and volunteering in a student-led café the last two years, my most important skills are working analytically and in a team, all with a deep motivation to learn about environmental and socials issues in food supply chains.

Maike: I have several years of experience in hospitality, working as a waitress and barista. This taught me how to communicate clearly, work well in a team and stay organized in busy situations. Growing up in a wine-growing region, I was also involved in wine production and agricultural work, which gave me insight into seasonal work, food production processes and physically active tasks. Through my studies in nutrition and food science, I have gained a solid understanding of sustainable food systems and am excited to expand this knowledge through hands-on experience.
