Hiya,
My name is Amélie, most people call me may and I'd say the most consistent occupation I've ever had is sun-worship, and as soon as she's up in the sky I can barely stand staying inside for whatever reason.

Inquiring about people and their life story is something I've done even at a very young age and I'd say my first love in this world were stories: ancient stories, people's life stories, superstition and the narratives/ stories that constitute history. To me, everything is language, a framework that expresses meaning. Maths is a language, the variety of plants the facial expression on people's faces in emotional moments, the patterns of the waves and the way cities are planned. I can't wait to hear the stories that are written into the way you see the world.

I love movement and physicality in almost all forms, my mom is a classical Austrian mountain woman; I used to be a swimmer and now I hike, cycle everywhere and hate walking places, just picked up climbing, yoga and pilates and trying to stretch moreee. So in that regard I'm excited about expanding in any direction you are passionate about. I'd love to reconnect to horses and pick-up horse-riding again. Dancing is of course an essential ;) I enjoy working with my hands and to see that you build something at the end of a process. I use them to create finer things like drawings or tattoos as well which I earn a bit of money from on the side.

It's very hard for me to find words for what I'm looking for exactly because every travel experience adds such unique things but mostly I'd say I seek the flooowww state and to surrender to wilderness and uncertaintyyyy and get rid a bit of the structural trace growing up in Europe has left on me.

Personally, I think growth mostly happens in chaos and discomfort and I've crave otherness and awe and the biggest perk of travelling to me is how it puts everything you took as given before into question entirely : values, culture, familiar landscapes and I believe it shrinks the ego. I was lucky enough to meet people along my path who encouraged my curiosity and inquisitive nature so much that I'm almost compulsively philosophical and no stranger is safe from being questioned on their views on life, spirituality or ethics by me which my friends sometimes joke about.

So all, in all I'd say I'm keen to learn and to just be a scholar of the world and the people in it that live with authenticity, vision and creation :)))))

I can speak English and German on a native speaker level as I studied in the UK and can do basic conversation in French. I am seeking to build on my very foundational Spanish I picked up on duolingo recently.

Because of my mom humanitarian aid has always been a part of me. (She helped rebuild the healthcare system in Ex-Jugoslavia after the war with CARE and spend quite some time in Africa and Latin America )While in school I started a project to help homeless people in Oxford with friends where we collected leftover food from boarding schools and distributed that to the homeless while also building personal relationships that were so enriching and helping them get housing etc. The project ended up in the semi final of a UN competition and we had several cooperations with national NGOs and even Oxford University and we made sure it's going on now even after we left the school. https://www.globalsocialleaders.com/share-and-care-oxford/
I also partook in organising the OxFID conference for international development which took place at Oxford university and covered many fascinating topics like gender inequality in education globally etc.

For my physical skills I can row, am a good swimmer and have given swimming lessons , have done most works around the house like painting fences or replacing woomboards or cutting trails through the forest at my grandparents cottage in the Canadian wilderness. I spent lots of summers in horse barns so I can deal with horses and clean out stables etc.

For my artistic skills I make money on the side with doing tattoos, I can deal with photoshop a bit and know how to create flyers etc for marketing and use tools to create websites etc. however can't program them myself yet which I want to work on.

I picked up a few electronics skills through my dad like soldering and milling but would need a few refreshers in that.

I like children a lot as they are more wise and honest than most adults and love to watch over them :) although it sometimes feels like their watching over me just as much and have some experience in babysitting and several younger cousins etc.
