Beschreibung
Hello! I’m Kayleigh, a British-Australian with Dominican roots, based in Dominica in the West Indies since August 2025.
Before moving to Dominica, I lived in the countryside in Japan for 6 years where I ran an organic vegetable farm and embraced a pretty self sufficient lifestyle. I'm deeply passionate about plants, not only as food, but as medicine, colour, and connection. I dye textiles using locally foraged plants, make my own clothes, and even create my own skincare using botanicals I gather and grow. I also forage for natural hair care ingredients and love learning traditional ways of working with nature.
Alongside this, I work remotely as a freelance designer. This flexibility allows me to travel slowly, contribute meaningfully, and stay curious. I’m especially interested in connecting with hosts who live close to the land, whether you’re farming, preserving traditional knowledge, supporting local communities, or sharing cultural stories.
What I Can Offer:
→ Organic gardening and small scale farming experience
→ Plant dyeing and natural textiles
→ Clothes making and basic mending
→ Skincare and herbal knowledge
→ Foraging, plant ID (I'm familiar with European, East Asian and Caribbean plants), and sustainable living
→ Help with design (graphic or visual), creative projects, or content creation
→ Love and care for animals and nature
→ A strong interest in contributing to community focused projects and initiatives
I’m hardworking, respectful, and deeply interested in learning about new ecosystems, traditions, and ways of living. I value community, slowness, and care in all things I do.
I’d love to contribute my energy and skills while learning from yours, especially in places where knowledge of plants, sustainability, and local wisdom are shared and celebrated.
Looking forward to connecting 🌿
Love,
Kayleigh -
