Hi there,
I am Paul from Frankfurt, Germany. After 8 years on the job as a mechanical engineer, I felt it was time to seek fresh inspiration. The daily routine leaves me longing to do so many things that can't be squeezed into a few weeks of vacation. In August 2025 my adventure will begin. I am fortunate enough to have a whole year to do whatever comes to mind.

My most memorable experiences have always come from being on the road - whether it was diving around India's only active volcano in the Andaman Sea, working in a French castle, or riding a motorbike in the Himalayas. After a first stop in Canada the new plan is to gradually make my way towards Patagonia.

While there certainly are nice aspects to sightseeing, I find it more rewarding to get involved with new people from different cultural backgrounds by supporting them with their local projects. During my first workaway trip, I was only able to do this for a few weeks. But it was exciting to engage in activities and lifestyles that I never would have gotten in touch with otherwise - leaving me determined to repeat this ever since.

People describe me as a grounded, kind guy who is always happy to help. I am self-reliant, curious and flexible. My spare time I like to spend being active with sports (yoga, running, boxing), hiking or exploring places. In general it brings me great pleasure to be in nature and I am interested in trying life off grid. At the same time, quiet moments hold great value to me as well – reading a good book or playing cards with friends.

If you choose to host me, you will meet someone who treats your home with great respect and supports your project wholeheartedly. During the time that we share I hope to learn about all the interesting details of your home region that one usually misses as a regular tourist.

DIY, maintenance, etc.
I love building things and finding practical solutions to technical challenges – both in my profession and my free time. I have built several pieces of furniture for my own flat as well as friends and often help out others when it comes to repairs and installations. If there is something I don’t know how to do, I am eager to learn it.

Cooking
Getting to know the culinary specialties of foreign countries is one of the best things about travelling. Cooking myself or assisting you with the preparation of whatever meal we are going to share sounds like a win-win to me. During my studies I worked part-time in restaurant kitchens for a while, so I am confident that I can be a helpful extra pair of hands in your kitchen as well.

Hospitality/Tourism
When I was younger I also worked in retail for a little while. I found it very satisfying to make customers feel welcome and put a smile on their faces. Opportunities to try this out some more are very welcome.

Animal care
Growing up in the country side animals have been around a lot during my upbringing and I walked the dogs for several neighbours. I have a big soft spot for animals in general and would love to participate in their caretaking.
