Hi! I'm Jhow, a Brazilian currently living in Portugal (I've also lived in Luxembourg and Malta), and I'm passionate about meeting people and discovering cultures and ways of life different from my own. With over 12 years of professional experience in marketing, sales and team management, I've led projects and people in several countries. But what truly makes me happy is breaking out of routine, trading the computer for hands-on manual work, and learning directly from people who live more simply and in closer connection with their community and with nature.

I'm also a writer (I'm finishing my first novel) and I love telling stories, which makes me curious, a good listener and always interested in the stories of the families who host me. I'm currently studying English, so Workaway is also a wonderful opportunity for me to practise the language in a real-life setting while contributing my time and energy.

I'm a responsible, flexible and hardworking person. Adapting to life in four different countries has taught me to respect routines, cultures and ways of living that are different from mine. I enjoy practical tasks (gardening, organising, helping around the house, caring for animals, simple repairs and renovations) as well as activities that involve creativity or contact with people.

I'm looking for this experience to slow down, learn new things with my hands, be part of a family's life for a while, and give back, with dedication and good energy, everything that is taught and shared with me.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I've been living on my own for about four years, which has taught me to be independent, organised and able to handle everyday surprises by myself, from cooking to looking after a home. Here are some practical skills I can offer:

Cooking: I can cook the basics well: simple, home-style everyday dishes.

Gardening and household tasks: I'm practical and handy when it comes to looking after a garden, organising spaces and helping with whatever is needed around the house.

Caring for teenagers: I volunteered for about six years at my local church in Brazil, helping to care for and mentor a group of teenagers. This gave me patience, good listening skills and a natural ease in dealing with that stage of life.

Photography and video: I have experience directing photoshoots (I used to have my own clothing brand and handled the creative direction of its campaigns), so I can help create beautiful content for social media or promotional material for my host.

Marketing and social media: I know how to create content, write copy and help promote projects or initiatives.

Writing: I'm the author of a novel (currently in its final editing stage), so I have a way with words and communication in general.

Adaptability and problem-solving: I've lived in four different countries (Brazil, Luxembourg, Malta and Portugal), which has taught me to adapt quickly to routines and cultures different from my own.

Languages: I'm a native Portuguese speaker, I speak English (which I'm currently improving) and a little Spanish and French. Great for families who'd also like to practise languages with me!

I'm a curious person who learns quickly and likes to roll up my sleeves, whether it's household tasks, gardening, caring for animals or teenagers, or more creative projects.

Was noch ...

In my free time, I love being outdoors, exploring new places and getting to know the local culture wherever I go. I think that's one of the things that draws me most to Workaway. I'm also passionate about reading and writing (I'm writing my first novel, a dark historical fantasy), and I like to use quiet moments to read or write a little.

I enjoy board games and card games in general. I'm always up for a game in the evening after work; it's a great way to spend time together and share a laugh with the people around me. I also enjoy music, photography as a hobby (I love taking pictures of the places I visit) and working out at the gym whenever I can keep up the routine.

I'm a very sociable person. I love chatting, listening to people's stories and sharing my own too. I believe that's part of what makes the Workaway experience so special: the genuine exchange between people whose lives are so different.
