Hello all

I'm Jonathan. I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and have been living mostly on the west Coast of USA for the last 10 years, with lots of travel in between!

I have travelled to 31 countries and have a love for people and learning, and of course, seeing the earth's incredible beauty.

I love learning about the uses of wild plants. Doing physical work outside in contact with open air and trees. The feeling of community.
My dream is to one day grow my own food and live on a small farm somewhere peaceful and close to nature.
So now my mission is to learn skills and ideas to fulfill my dream.

Where l lived in Washington state is very beautiful. There are mountains with glaciers, wild beaches and ancient rain forests all within one hours' drive. I worked there mostly as a gardener, and did some other construction based work as well.
For the last 4 years I have worked as a waiter in restaurants, as well as a surf instructor, partly in Hawaii and mostly in California.

I've experienced 2 weeks of volunteering on a permaculture farm in South Africa, as well as a month with a hispanic eco village in the Southern Andes of Ecuador (not through workaway).
In general l am an easy going, friendly person. I enjoy working with others and socializing, but I also enjoy time alone.
I think that being humble and respectful of other people and their beliefs is essential for communal living.

I don't smoke and don't drink often. I have a valid US and EU drivers license as well
