Beschreibung
Hello there! I'm Jayce and I'm looking to find Workaway experiences where I can spend time in nature and learn more about self-sufficiency like gardening and taking care of farm animals.
I was born and raised in Southern California, and I have just quit my job in Big Tech as a Software Engineer after 3.5 years so I can spend more time in nature.
I will be visiting Europe for a family member's wedding in July 2025, and plan to spend at least a couple months around that time to stay at a farm in Europe.Interessengebiete

Was könntest du arbeiten?
My occupation up to this point was as a Software Engineer so can help with most things tech related, but I am physically very active and hence should be able to provide help for anything outdoors related as well.
I was Boy Scout for 8 years and reached Eagle Scout, where I've worked on multiple outdoor projects like paving a decomposed granite pathway for the local park and planting bushes and adding sprinklers to the church in our city.
I've also done Karate for 10 years, reaching Black Belt and had taught children and adults there as a part time job for 2 years during high school, so teaching kids is something I am confident in doing.
Finally, I speak English and Japanese fluently, and Spanish and French as a beginner. Teaching myself Latin via Comprehensible Input, I'm confident I can pick up whatever primary language the host speaks quickly, as well as teaching English or Japanese to any hosts or workawayers that are interested in learning/improving either of those languages.Alter

My primary hobby for the past 3 years has been Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). I have done martial arts since I was a kid and am very passionate about combat sports. If any host would like to learn self-defense or you are also a practitioner of BJJ or another combat sport, I'd love to train while doing the Workaway!
Other than that, my hobbies include board games (social deduction games like Avalon or strategy games like Catan), reading (long novels or philosophy treatises), yoga (15 mins every night) and working out (primary calisthenics but also regular weight lifting as well).Etwas mehr Information

Manoel was very friendly and created a comfortable and fun community that made the work fun :)
We had plenty of time after work and on the weekends to explore the city and had a great time exploring Porto and surfing with Manoel and the other workawayers.
I stayed for 3 weeks, helping feed the horses, help water the plants, and clean the hostel for guests.
I had multiple occasions where Ana, Max, and Costa helped teach me to ride a horse, which was an awesome experience.
The people here were wonderful, and there would be guests… read more
I enjoyed teaching Leonardo Japanese, and had a great time with the entire family on a couple occasions eating delicious home-cooked Italian food by Giovanna :)
