Beschreibung

Hi! I’m Helen, an artist from Portland, Maine. I'm studying Accessory Design and Costume Design at Savannah College of Art and Design, and am solo backpacking over the summer. I'm traveling to learn about different cultures around the world and to connect on a deeper level with myself and with others, lending a helping hand along the way. I am outgoing and love to meet new people and listen to life stories.

I adore working with kids, and have lots of babysitting experience with children of all ages. I also was an assistant Education Tech in high school and a peer mentor, and have experience working with children with learning disabilities. With kids I love to play games, teach arts and crafts, spend time in nature, and read out loud.

I'm a big animal lover, and have experience working with both farm animals and doing foster care. I'm not afraid of hard work or getting my hands dirty! My first Workaway was on a construction sight, where I learned to work efficiently with power tools. For my second Workaway I taught different crafts to children at a Makers Space, and helped throw birthday parties and fashion shows for them.

I’m always happy to help out wherever it is needed through cleaning, gardening, childcare, animal care, DIY projects, and more. I keep an open mind and a positive attitude for tackling challenges. I'm detail oriented and am always excited to learn new skills. I’m conscientious of others' boundaries as well as my own, and stay true to my commitments.

I do personal work surrounding identity, mental health, LGBTQ+ communities, and human rights. Spirituality, sustainability, compassion, education, family, friendships, and exploring nature are my priorities. I am also a musician (I write songs, play piano, keytar, ukulele, and sing), and I love meeting other musicians and co-creating. My other hobbies include ecstatic dance, yoga, hiking, acting, fashion design and sewing, crochet, embroidery, collaging, poetry writing and reading, painting, drawing, sculpting, and community event organizing. Basically any art form I can get my hand on!

I am a vegetarian and like to eat mostly vegan food, but am flexible. If you can't accommodate to dietary restrictions I can absolutely cook for myself. I love to bake vegan goodies and cook balanced meals!

I hope to keep immersing myself in cultures and exploring this summer. With the opportunity to help at your Workaway, I will bring kindness, an open mind, dedication to tasks, play, and respect for you, your family, and your property. Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have many passions and hobbies with a natural curiosity for learning new things. I am an animal lover and have fostered cats and worked on a farm. I am also a baker for my family and friends! I am great with kids, and love how they bring out my inner child and encourage me to grow as a person. I paint, sing, play ukulele and piano, and write music based on my experiences in this crazy, wonderful life. I have worked as a caretaker for the elderly for the past two years, and also have experience in retail and customer service. I have done work exchanges involving construction, teaching, and childcare. I enjoy any job where I can be outside and active or creative. I am a quick study and pay close attention to the things around me. I put my heart into everything I do.
