Beschreibung

Hi - we are a couple who met working on the psychiatric unit at a children's hospital in Denver, Colorado, USA. Josie has a master's degree in clinical psychology while Hannah is working on a master's degree in social work. Traditional education and work in the field have brought us a long way, but we are ready for a change. We are looking for a way to learn outside of a classroom through human connection and the worldly experience of others.

Travel has always been a dream of ours but neither of us could figure out how to make it a reality on our own. We came across workaway and were inspired to see the world in this manner - getting to know the communities we are traveling to from community members themselves. We hope to learn about culture through the eyes of the beholder. We are both spiritual people who seek out things larger than ourselves and believe that traveling the world will provide just that! We hope to learn about local spiritual practices and celebrations, cuisine, family life and all that is sacred.

Josie grew up in the mountains of Colorado skiing, hiking, and doing all things outdoors. She loves to cook, move her body through yoga and dance and spend time with her family and friends. She has traveled many places but is looking forward to connecting to the world on a deeper, more intentional level with Hannah by her side.

Hannah grew up in a tight knit community in the suburbs of Colorado and enjoys live music, having meaningful conversations, and trying new foods. Her passion is people. She loves to learn from the experiences and lives of others and looks forward to better understanding people and culture from those she meets around the world.

We both find joy in nature, connection, dancing and adventure! We can't wait to see the world through your eyes!

We would be interested in teaching English. Josie is almost fluent in Spanish and Hannah is an intermediate Spanish speaker - we would both be interested in speaking and learning Spanish. We would also be interested in learning any other language in exchange for teaching English!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Both Josie and Hannah have experience with teaching, mental health education, caring for children, gardening, housework, and cooking. Josie is a 500 hour certified yoga instructor, she speaks Spanish and English and has worked in retail, restaurants, research labs and a hospital. Hannah also knows some Spanish and has worked in retail, restaurants, travel and hospitals. Both Hannah and Josie love to help - individual people, communities, and the Earth.

We have volunteered with many workaways so far: a hostel, a dog rescue, family homes helping with cooking, childcare, housework and gardening, and teaching English!

Was noch ...

We love to explore and learn and are on this journey around the world to experience the beauty that exists in communities different than our own. We are a queer couple and would love to be involved in LGBTQ+ advocacy in the communities we are in, as well as staying in homes that are LGBTQ+ friendly. We love games, hanging out and exchanging stories, learning from kids, being outside and moving our bodies. We also love animals!
