Hello!
After living in big cities for so many years now, Thomas and I are ready to live an alternative lifetsyle and reconnect with nature and good people. Following some amazing experiences as a workawayer in Australia, I (Gillian) am back again for some more! Thomas was easily convinced into joining workaway with me because he loves nature, animals and would love to learn more about woodworking.
I am originally from Hong Kong but have lived in the UK, the Netherlands and France. Currently I am living in Paris and trying to figure out what to do with life while volunteering as a cook and working as a waitress part-time. I have always loved travelling around and learning different cultures and languages.
Thomas is originally from Paris and is a professional chef. He has lived in Canada as well and has travelled quite extensively. In addition to French and English, he also speaks Spanish. He enjoys being outdoors and isn't afraid of physical work. Being a chef, he is interested in fermentation, reducing food waste, herbs, cheesemaking and all other food-related subjects. Of course, he cooks very well and would be more than happy to share his passion with you.
Workaway is a brilliant way to meet other people, have stimulating conversations, appreciate different lifestyles and be fully immersed in the cultural experience so I hope to do the same in the very near future.
Though we have only lived in big cities, we are very much an advocate for slow living in the countryside. If we had the resources and a chance right now, we would not even hesitate to switch to countrylife! In our free time, we enjoy taking weekend trips to new places, spending time with animals, learning how to cook traditional recipes from different countries, baking, doing outdoor activities and marvelling at nature.
