I am currently organising my next voluntary work experience in France.

Beschreibung

Je suis né dans le sud-ouest de l’Angleterre et bien que mes parents aient été agriculteurs, j’ai passé ma carrière en tant que médecin généraliste dans une zone urbaine. Enfant, je travaillais le week-end dans le potager ou à la ferme. Alors, pendant toute ma carrière je n’ai jamais perdu l’envie d’être proche de la terre et de la nature.
Depuis que j’ai pris ma retraite en 2018 j’ai la chance de pratiquer mes hobbies en ayant les coudées franches. J’adore faire du vélo, apprendre la langue de Molière, voyager avec ma femme et travailler de manière volontaire dans le secteur agricole, au Royaume-Uni et en France.
Actuellement je travaille depuis deux ans chez un producteur de fruits et de noix qui se trouve dans le centre de l’Angleterre. Je suis payé en prunes! et en pommes, noix, châtaignes, framboises, myrtilles….ce qui est bien apprécié chez-nous.
En France grâce au site-web Wwoof.fr depuis 2019, j’ai travaillé dans une chèvrerie deux fois, un verger, un maraîchage, chez un homme qui vit en autarcie dans les Pyrénées et une ferme avec un camping naturiste. C’étaient des expériences uniques, enrichissantes et inoubliables.
J’aime travailler proche de la nature et m'engager dans la culture ou je me trouve. Des conversations en français sont toujours bien appréciées mais si vous avez envie de pratiquer votre anglais, n’hésitez pas de le faire.

I was born into a farming family in the south-west of England and spent my adult years in an urban area working as a General Practitioner ( Doctor) as part of a team of doctors and nurses and ancillary staff. I retired in 2018 and since then I have persued my hobbies of cycling, speaking French and working voluntarily on farms in the United Kingdom and France. My wife and I enjoy travelling together and discovering new places each year and spending time with our three children and three grandchildren.
In England,during the past two years, I have been working regularly on 15 hectare family run orchard and fruit farm . Since 2019 I have worked in France on a goat farm (twice), in an orchard,at a market garden business, in a large country garden and a self-sufficiency project in the Pyrénées and a naturist campsite/farm.
I enjoy working outdoors and with people, I like to immerse myself in whatever project I am working on. In France, I take great pleasure in having conversations entirely in French.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I am an experienced Gardener and enjoy general maintenance jobs.
In my orchard work I have learnt how to graft trees and prune trees in a professional manner.
I feel my career in General Practice instilled in me the importance of good communication skills and organisation and working efficiently.
Learning French as a hobby I have developed an understanding of the difficulties of learning a foreign language.
I enjoy cooking meals at home starting with the basic ingrédients.
