Beschreibung

Having been hit with the travel bug from an early age, I have an unending enthusiasm to go out and explore the world and continue learning each and every day. I have always had a fascination and desire to travel and explore more of South America and Africa specifically. My interests include anything to do with the great outdoors, especially hiking! There's nothing more I enjoy doing than getting my hiking boots or swimming gear on and enjoying nature! I am also a big lover of music. Whether it's going to a festival and enjoying the energy music brings, or storytelling through song around a campfire!

A small background about myself:
I was raised in a small rural home in Ireland, roughly 5km from the nearest village, so I am no stranger to rural living. I remember being a child and watching nature documentaries on the TV and falling in love with the various forms of wildlife that we have on the earth. Whether it was the arid bush ecosystem of Sub-Saharan Africa, or the colorful jungle ecosystem of South America, I was totally fascinated but believed it was only a dream that I could go to those places!

Fast forward a number of years later, and after working and saving money, I decided that the first solo trip that I would take out of my country was to Botswana. I spent 3 weeks volunteering on a Wildlife Conservation program in the heart of the Kalahari Desert. From here, my love of travel grew exponentially.

I studied Biology in University, and have spent the last few years teaching English to people both at home and abroad, in order to realize their travelling and working adventures too.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have worked retail in years gone by and have been practicing my trade in the education sector more recently teaching English as a second language to students from all around the globe! I have previous experience on Workaway working in backpackers' which I enjoyed immensely. These experiences have taught me a great level of empathy and understanding, regardless of people's backgrounds or stories.

I am physically fit and more than enthusiastic to undertake laborious work, whether it be helping to build houses, or painting that last square centimetre on the back wall, I love a physical challenge no matter how strenuous!

Was noch ...

One thing I love about travel, is the people from all forms of life that you get to meet. I feel that I constantly have a smile on my face, and I love transferring that smile onto the people that I meet while travelling. If I can make just 1 person laugh or smile, then I consider that a successful day :)
