Hi! My name is Elen Rychtecká. I’m 18 years old and I live in the Czech Republic. I’m currently studying my third year of high school (out of four years). 🌸

One of the main reasons I would love to do Workaway is to improve my English before graduation and to meet new people and families while discovering different cultures while I’m still young. In April I will also be going to Italy for a one-week Erasmus exchange with my school, which I’m really looking forward to because I love discovering new countries and experiencing different cultures. ✨

I really love spending time with children. I enjoy playing with them, being creative and simply spending time together. I have always been surrounded by children in my family. 💖

My family is quite big – I have three older brothers, two step-sisters and a younger sister. I also love animals, especially dogs and cats. At home we have three cats and one dog. 🌺

I’m also a very active person. I love running (right now I’m training for a half marathon), going to the gym, hiking and winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. I really enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places. My mom and I enjoy ice bathing every day in winter. 🏅

I also like meeting new people and learning about different cultures and ways of life. I would be happy to help with children, household tasks or cooking and to become part of the family during my stay. 💕

One of the main reasons I want to do Workaway is to improve my English by speaking it in everyday life with a host family. I really enjoy learning languages and discovering different cultures. I am also interested in learning German. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to teach a few Czech words or share some Czech culture.

I really enjoy spending time with children and I am very comfortable around babies and young kids. I like playing with them, going outside, doing creative activities or helping them with their daily routines.

I am also happy to help around the house with things like cleaning, organising, doing laundry or preparing simple meals.

I love animals and spending time outdoors. I am a very active person and I enjoy running, hiking, skiing and other sports.

I am responsible, positive and always willing to help wherever it is needed.
I would love to become part of a host family for a while.n

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Join our homestead in the ...)

I've had the best time staying at Marine and Camille's place. I was there for 10 days and I've learned so many things.
First of all, Marine and Camille were so open and kind — they made me feel at home in their place. Every morning except weekends I was taking care of chickens, cleaning after them and picking eggs. When there was nice weather, we … read more gathered grass in the garden — nothing hard to do. But what I liked the most during my stay there was making honey and being in the beehives — it was my first experience, and I was literally speechless. I had such a good time making it that I now even think of having bees someday — before that, I wouldn't even have thought of it.
Every evening we used to have dinner together, and Camille is such a good cook that every meal was absolutely delicious. During or after the main dish we always had vegetables or salad, and I absolutely loved this "tradition" — I took it home with me, and now I have vegetables with almost every meal I eat.
Both of them were so inspirational to me, and I am so grateful for this experience. On Friday we had an apéritif, a little gathering in their beautiful living room, eating chips and olives and just talking, enjoying the end of the work week.
I mainly went there because I wanted to get better at English, but I got so much more than I expected — hours of conversations, new habits. If you want to learn about Swedish and French culture at once, this is the best opportunity — I've learned so many things about both cultures, since Marine and Camille are a French couple.
They had two beautiful cats, and one of them slept with me the entire time — they were so sweet, and I miss them now. Marine drove me straight to the airport and waited there in case anything happened — I felt so secure. Since this was my first Workaway experience, I honestly couldn't have picked a better stay.
On the weekend we went hiking 14 km, and it was absolutely wonderful — they told me so many interesting facts about nature and Sweden. We saw a family of reindeer there, and I've never seen anything like it in my life — they were so close. We also picked blueberries, and it was so relaxing — we gathered almost 7 kg. Camille bought me a typical Swedish pastry, and when we headed to the airport early in the morning, we saw 4 moose — my jaw literally dropped.
So if you like learning about new cultures — more than one — and if you like trying new things and habits, this is a safe choice. They were both at work from morning until three o'clock, which was a nice opportunity to spend time with yourself if you're not used to it, like I wasn't, and a good chance to experience the land on your own. They encouraged me to try new things even though I'm shy, not just there but at home too.
Again, thank you Marine and Camille for this beautiful experience.
