Hello!
My name is Chris, I’m from the UK, and I’m looking to spend two months volunteering in a dog shelter.

For 12 ½ years I worked in a software engineering team (manager for 8 years), before deciding to take a break and travel the world.
In 2025 I travelled Central America for 3 months, and Asia for 3 ½ months, before returning to the UK in August. Now I would like to spend 2 months volunteering.

While travelling through Central America, I witnessed a huge number of street dogs - some of which were healthy, but quite a few that were either sick or underweight. I found this difficult to see, so I started carrying dog food and a yoghurt pot (for water) so I could help whenever I met a dog in need.

I always had a plan to do some volunteering during my sabbatical, and it was during my time in Central America, as well as Asia, that I decided I wanted to help in a dog shelter.

I also love dogs! 🐶

- Hard working, physically fit, and more than happy to get my hands dirty.
- Team player with strong problem solving skills - that was basically my job for over 12 years!
- Good communicator - I managed a team of around 12 software engineers.
- Trustworthy and reliable - I worked in a senior role for over 8 years.
- Love animals, in particular dogs - see my profile for why I decided to volunteer at a dog shelter .
- Grew up with dogs (Spaniels) and have always loved animals.

- IT and tech - If there's something you need help with, chances are I can figure it out.
- DIY - I have some basic experience - enough to build some wooden climbing toys for the rabbits, and some stands for my houseplants.
