Hi!

I’m Anne-France, a 26-year-old French backpacker on a Working Holiday Visa. I’ve been in Australia for 8 months and spent a few months working in Brisbane before moving to Victoria and the countryside, where I had my first volunteering experience through HelpX.

I’m currently in the NSW outback, where I worked to complete my 88 days and extend my visa for a second year. After almost a year of working, I’d now like to enjoy the “holiday” part of my visa. That’s why I’m looking for a volunteering opportunity, because I really enjoyed my first experience (during which I mainly helped with house maintenance tasks such as painting, sanding, cleaning, and gardening). I think it’s one of the best ways to discover the country through Australians’ eyes and experience my trip the way I want to: meeting new people, speaking English, sharing nice moments, and discovering everyday Australian life.

As I’ll be staying in Sydney for a little while in mid-June, I’m mainly looking for opportunities where I can help hosts with domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, gardening, or any outdoor activities where an extra pair of hands would be helpful. I also really like pets, especially dogs, cats, and rabbits, and I’d be very happy to help take care of them. I’m always happy to learn new things and help wherever needed. I’d be happy to stay with a single host, a couple, or a family. I’m a quiet person who enjoys sharing conversations over tea or coffee, playing board games, and going out to explore the area. I’d also like to buy a car in Sydney before starting my road trip along the East Coast.

To tell you a bit more about myself: I’m a journalist (a young one, as I finished my studies two years ago). I had been planning this trip to Australia for three years before coming here. I’ve always wanted to live abroad, and Australia has fascinated me for a long time, its landscapes, the desert, the coastline, and the countryside.
I’d also love to discover the wildlife here: kangaroos, wallabies, birds, and all the animals that make Australia so unique. I’m travelling to improve my English, discover new cultures and ways of living, and meet local people.

I enjoy both outdoor and indoor tasks. During my first volunteering experience, I mostly did gardening (mowing the lawn and weeding), cleaning, and house painting.

I can also cook and take care of pets.
