Hello there! I am new to Workaway, but have long been interested in exploring new places and living sustainably. I believe as individuals, it is our responsibility to be mindful stewards of the land we tread on and utilize practices that help sustain Mother Earth. Over the last 3 years, I have volunteered at various local farms and food-related non-profits. I believe there is so much power in a food system that is biodiverse, equitable, and autonomous, which is my main motivation for wanting to learn more at a farmstay. I am not afraid of hard work, and would like to connect with others who are also passionate about communing with nature and being open to alternate paths of life. In my spare time, I enjoy plant-based cooking and baking sourdough, as well as yoga and going on long walks.

Was könntest du arbeiten?
-I studied food systems college, with a focus on local charitable food systems and their impact on community food security.
-Since graduating I have volunteered at a local no-till, organic flower farm in Richmond, VA where I helped with everything from seed starting, watering, laying irrigation hoses, raising beds, composting, clearing land for new beds, etc. This was put on hold with COVID, as the farmer did not feel comfortable having outside help for a majority of the pandemic.
-Tending to my home garden/house plants. My housemates and I are currently growing a variety of herbs, tomatoes, eggplants, peas, greens, and share the work tending to the garden and yard maintenance.
-I am tech/computer savvy. I currently work remotely very part-time, but have experience in web design, communications, and environmental research.
-I enjoy cooking and baking primarily plant-based foods. I eat vegan now but have been a vegetarian for over 4 years. Bread making is a new skill/joy of mine that I love sharing with others!
