  • Beschreibung

We are an German-American family with three children (born: 2010, 2012, 2016) looking to learn together more about organic farming, permaculture, natural building, animals and, in general, teach our kids using the school of life.

**We will be in Denmark in July and our Sweden host for August just canceled- LOOKING for a place to help out and learn at IN AUGUST**

My husband and I met each other while doing WWOOFing, HelpX and other Work and Travel "gap year" volunteering in India. We then traveled together to Australia - and met up to start our family in Germany. We then slowly kind of lost ourselves in a life full of jobs and schooling. We have been a traveling nomad family (with no house or apartment anywhere) for two years now, volunteering and traveling together in Europe. After we're approved to go state side we plan on doing roughly the same in America. Then maybe we settle down and build our earthship and become our own self-sustaining farm and can host Workawayers!.

We have been traveling now in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy, France, Spain and Switzwerland. We're not registered in Germany and are teaching our children through unschooling/worldschooling/roadschooling what it’s like to work and serve others while learning a thing or two along the way.

Our motivation at the moment is to shake ourselves free of the system we were stuck in for so long. We're happy when our basic needs are met, when we meet amazing other traveling souls along the way, can give back/work/learn from others and still have some time for the family, nature, meditation and ourselves.

We can bring our camping gear with us, so if the weathers ok we can set up tents. Having lived in tents at one project for a total of three weeks though we realized that we also appreciate having walls and a floor/space for our belongings, so tents are with us but more of for a temporary accomodation/possibility....We're also flexible as to where we sleep and we're all happy -and very much value - when we have a place we can feel comfortable/at home. We have solar panels and power banks so we can and would love to try out off-grid projects too.

  • Was könntest du arbeiten?

    Our skill sets?

Green thumb, yoga teacher (yin, kids and laughter yoga), good cook (for larger groups too), certified HeartMath Resilience Coach (www.stacywedding.com) and Integral Master Coach, handy with tools, learn quickly, project management experience & volunteer organization experience at a non profit organization, inclusions specialist/special needs assistant, artist/mandala painter, guitar/violin/drum players and three eager kids that also get a lot done, want to learn about the world.

We're a creative family that also enjoys painting and doing crafts. The kids love animals and want to learn more about them. Otherwise the boys love anything having to do with big tools and machinery- their latest investment in a drone has them filming footage and editing marketing videos for some of the places we've been at.... our daughter is in love with horses, cats, dogs (most animals really) and enjoys helping out in her own playful loving way.

So far we've been learning (through volunteering/WWOOFing etc): how to harvest veggies, fruits and herbs/flowers, making cheese, pressing and producing juice from apples, feeding animals, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, milking cows, helping to build/finish a seminar house, pour cement, painted a huge mandala inside, helped build a wooden railing on a deck, cooking, cleaning, food preservation, baking bread (I, Stacy, bring my sourdough starter with me everywhere!), how to make renovations to old buildings, and of course weeding/watering plants and helping out in a permaculture garden... and much more!

  • Was noch ...

We love to explore new cultures and be in nature. Board games are also always good. Family time a must. If you're interested in talking about things philosophically and spiritually then we'll get along just fine.

Oh, and everyone seems to ask this so I'll just include it in here - our kids are old enough that they pretty much keep themselves busy. They want to know what we're doing and where we are- but then enjoy reading, playing (if there are animals around, then playing/taking care of them especially) and exploring on their own. They don't distract us from work- in fact when a bigger project is going on then they love to jump in and help out. And they're at ages where the actually really help quite a bit. We also expect them to take on a daily job or duty like checking on the chickens/eggs, chopping wood or feeding the cat etc. They actively help to clean up the kitchen/keep their spaces tidy and are expected, just like it was when we had a "home", to help out around the house.
