My name is Veena I am travelling with my husband and daughter (27). We have been travelling globally for over 30 years and have been vegan for over 40 years. Food and travel is our passion! We run a vegan nomadic business together called The Arty Vegan. We are currently travelling and working in India as we are all OCI card holders but our base is in London, UK. We have worked in guest houses and home stays, organising supper clubs and workshops sharing our sustainable way of life and building meaningful connections with like minded people. I was born in South Africa of Indian origin coming from an English teaching background. My husband (Maurelio) is Italian but grew up in Geneva with a culinary background. We speak English, French and Italian. We travel with our third daughter Kimaya who has extensive experience in hospitality within management and customer service in the UK. Six months out of the year we run our family vegan business, showcasing our love and knowledge of vegan food. We are keen to get involved and are always open to new ideas, initiatives and opportunities. We are currently in Nagaland (India) as pioneers introducing plant based cuisine using local ingredients and produce. Together the three of us are a tight knit team with various skills, a strong work ethic and dedication to community empowerment. In our spare time we enjoy, trekking, discovering off the beaten track destinations and immersing ourselves in local cultures and traditions.

My name is Maurelio, I am travelling with my wife and third daughter Kimaya( 27), together running our nomadic family business (The Arty Vegan). I was born in Italy but grew un in Geneva, Switzerland. I graduated as a cafetier restauranteur and after my marriage to Veena I was a house husband, bringing up our four daughters and opening vegan restaurants and small eateries as we travelled around the world. I learned the artisanal art of tofu making during our time in Japan and this became my passion. Our current business began in London(our base) with the running of two vegan zero waste shops and the production of tofu, soya milk and vegan cheese. Since closing these shops we have carried our brand with us to India, travelling here 6 months out of the year, sharing our knowledge and love for the soya bean. We had a restaurant in Pushkar, Rajasthan for two years but since then we have moved on to opening small pop ups/ hosting supper clubs across north east India as we continue our travels. We think this Workaway opportunity is well aligned with our non linear family lifestyle as we are always on the look out for alternative and exciting ‘out of the box’ opportunities!
