Hi fellow adventurers and kind hosts :) I’m a friendly independent wanderer, a lover of wild places and of simple living. Currently in NZ.
My working background is mainly in filed ecology & community development, but I'll put my hand to any adventure and have all sorts of skills I can bring to the table.
My story? Im from the U.K. westcountry but am a bit of a nomad so have come and gone over the years - either living in my little van, or working on projects around the world. I love meeting people, especially others who are passionate about having a small footprint and staying connected to the natural world. I've been lucky to hang out in some special places - my highlight so far being a few years living in the interior of Guyana, a time that left a real mark on me.
Some of my favourite things are pubs, dogs, maps and roots blues music. I love camping out, hiking, swimming in rivers, watching wildlife, soaking up the sunshine, yoga, swing dancing and small folky festivals. I’m a social bean, but quiet time is important too.
My favourite work exchange opportunities are ones that are remote but sociable, focusing on outdoor jobs where possible. I'm really keen to learn about sustainable living and permaculture as well as alternative ways of living.

I think I’m a fairly hardy sort! I’ve done a lot of practical conservation work through my life from the land management side of things to wildlife monitoring and aviculture. I grew up with animals and have always had animals in my life so I’m fairly used to looking after all sorts - dogs, cats, horses, some livestock, chickens, ducks and so on! I prefer being outside but am great at cleaning too if it needs doing. I’m all about attention to detail and have worked in hostels and b&bs - I really enjoy hospitality. I think I’m a pretty easy going can-do sort of character with initiative and love to learn new skills. I'm good with people and customer facing work and have experience in rural eco and adventure tourism.
A little understanding of French & Spanish
I’ve got a pretty good knowledge of British wildlife and a fairly recent post grad in Ecology if that could ever come in handy, or happy to share skills. I’m really keen to learn about community living and rural living as well as sustainability.
I'll eat anything but typically don't eat much meat and have to take it easy on the dairy these days
