We are a family of 4 taking the year to travel the world!

My husband and I are both teachers in Alberta, Canada and have been teaching for 20 years. Our daughter Georgia is 15 and is an avid volleyball player. She is dedicated to learning (doing her courses online while we travel), she is very active and loves making new friends. My son Charlie is 13. He is a hockey player firstly but loves all sports. He loves people, loves to laugh and making others laugh!
My husband can be very handy. He has done all the renovations in our own house and done a wonderful job. He teaches what we call Junior High, so grades 7 through 9. He teaches mainly social Studies but also a bit of Physical Education and counselling.
I am in an elementary school. I teach grades 1 through 6 and I mainly teach physical education. We have both had many positions over the years, however, and have taught many subjects in a variety of grades.

Our family loves to travel. We have done an exchange with an Australian family. We taught in Australia and our kids did a year of school there. We have done a 6 week cross-Canada adventure in a 1970’s motorhome so we are quite adventurous and flexible.

This latest adventure has some plans set, some excursions booked, however, we are trying to leave as much open ended as possible as we want the flexibility to stay longer in the places we love and not rush around.

We made some life long friends in all of our travels and hope to do the same this year. We also do not want to be “tourists” all year, we really want to learn the languages, meet the people and help wherever we can. As parents, we want our children to see and experience how others around the world live and become immersed in the culture and way of life.

We love animals. Have always had pets and currently are missing our dog at home! I love to garden, had my own small garden at home and would get the kids to help with it. We love being active. None of us can lounge around for too long before we start getting antsy and need to get moving.

Was noch ...

We love the ocean or any bodies of water really. My kids are happiest when they are in the water.
We love all sports. All 4 of us have played on competitive teams and just fun pick up games in almost all kinds of sports.
We love meeting new people and making new friends. Love hearing about other peoples journeys in life.
