Beschreibung

We're two friends from Cologne, Germany – both 22 years old – and currently taking a break between our Bachelor's degree in Special Education (teacher training) and starting our Master's. After finishing our studies, we felt it was the perfect time to explore new places, meet new people, and learn hands-on skills through Workaway.

We’ve already had an amazing shared experience volunteering at L’Arche in Cork, Ireland, where we lived and worked with people with disabilities. That time really showed us how much we value meaningful connection, teamwork, and being part of a supportive community.

We love working with children, and we’re also really motivated to learn more practical, hands-on skills – especially anything creative or manual like gardening, building, cooking, or crafts. We’re both curious, open-minded, and happy to help wherever we’re needed.

What brings us happiness is being outdoors, connecting with people from different backgrounds, and discovering local cultures and ways of life. We enjoy sharing everyday moments, learning new things, and exchanging stories along the way.

We both speak German (native) and English (fluent), and we’d be happy to help others practice either language. Mona also learned some Spanish at school and Sarah learned some French and we would love to improve them while traveling – or even get into a totally new language! We enjoy language learning because it opens up a whole new way of connecting with people and understanding cultures. Whether it’s teaching, practicing, or just exchanging a few phrases – we’re always up for it.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We’re both people who love being around others – especially kids – and we’ve learned a lot through our studies in Special Education and from volunteering at L’Arche in Ireland. There, we had no experience with care work at first, but we jumped in, learned quickly, and by the end we felt really comfortable with it. So we’d say we’re pretty adaptable and not afraid of new challenges.

We’re curious, open, and like to learn by doing. Whether it’s helping on a farm, learning how to fix something, or trying a new recipe – we enjoy picking up new skills along the way. We’ve spent time helping on a grandparent’s farm, so we’re not afraid of getting our hands dirty either.

We both enjoy cooking and baking (also for groups!), we’re pretty good at keeping things tidy, and we don’t mind household work. We like staying active and being outdoors, and we always try to bring a positive and open-minded attitude.

We’re not experts in anything, but we’re motivated, we like to work hard, and we genuinely enjoy being part of a team or community.

Was noch ...

We're all about mixing adventure with a bit of creativity. Whether we're hiking, swimming, or bouldering, we love being active outdoors. When it's time to wind down, we enjoy a fun game of Wizard or Yahtzee, and we're always up for learning new board games. We're also big fans of crafting, crocheting, and discovering new cultures along the way. At home, we enjoy cooking, gardening, and just having a good time with friends.
